Milwaukee Admirals Sign Goaltender Austin Schwab to ATO Amid Roster Moves
Austin Schwab joined Milwaukee as an ATO on March 7 while Nashville recalled three players, including AHL All-Star defenseman Ryan Ufko, from the Admirals roster.

The Milwaukee Admirals added goaltender Austin Schwab to their roster via an amateur tryout signing logged March 7, 2026 on the official AHL transactions sheet, a move that coincided with a wave of roster activity connecting Milwaukee to its NHL affiliate in Nashville.
Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced the broader organizational shuffle, which included recalling forwards Reid Schaefer and Fedor Svechkov and defenseman Ryan Ufko from Milwaukee. The Predators also recalled forward Austin Roest from Atlanta of the ECHL and assigned defenseman Christoffer Sedoff to the Admirals. Schwab does not appear by name in the Admirals news release covering those moves; his signing is documented solely on the AHL transactions page as of March 7.
The departures strip Milwaukee of significant production, most notably from Ufko, who has been one of the AHL's standout defensemen this season. Ufko is second among AHL defensemen in points with a career-high 44 (11g-33a) through 50 games in 2025-26; his 33 assists are the second-most and his 11 goals are tied for the third-most among blueliners. He also leads AHL defensemen in power-play goals with six and represented Milwaukee in the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic. The 6-foot, 174-pound native of Smithtown, N.Y., made his NHL debut with the Predators on April 14, 2025 against Utah, logging 15:37 of ice time.
Schaefer's recall removes Milwaukee's second-leading goal scorer. The 6-foot-5, 226-pound winger has posted 28 points (15g-13a) in 31 games for the Admirals in 2025-26, while also appearing in 27 NHL games this rookie season, producing six points (4g-2a) with 13 penalty minutes and 24 shots on goal after debuting November 28 at Chicago. He scored his first career NHL goal and logged his first fighting major on December 2 against Calgary.

Svechkov, a 6-foot, 187-pound center in his sophomore NHL campaign, has nine points (2g-7a) including one shorthanded goal in 49 appearances with the Predators this season. He owns 26 points (10g-16a) across 101 career NHL games and has posted 59 points (26g-33a) in 80 career appearances for Milwaukee.
Roest's stint in Atlanta produced five points across three games, including his first professional goal on February 28 against Savannah. The Coldstream, B.C. native contributed three assists in 28 games with the Admirals before his move through the ECHL.
Schwab's background, statistics, and prior team affiliation were not included in the available documentation. The Admirals had not issued a separate release on the signing as of the transaction date, and further details on his role with the club are expected to be confirmed by the organization.
