Seven seconds. That's all Jordan Oesterle needed to end it.

Cole O'Hara won a tied-up faceoff to open overtime Wednesday night at UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena, pushed the puck ahead, and he and Oesterle were instantly flying into the Rockford zone on a 2-on-1. Oesterle held the puck just long enough to freeze IceHogs goalie Olivier Rodrigue, then fired a shot over his shoulder at the 0:07 mark for the game-winner, giving the Milwaukee Admirals a 2-1 victory over the Rockford IceHogs.

The goal was Oesterle's sixth of the season and extended a remarkable personal run: 11 points over his last 11 games.

Milwaukee had to earn this one. The Admirals opened the scoring at 8:41 of the first period on a sequence that required some persistence. Tanner Molendyk sent a pass from the left point to Kalan Lind at the left post, Rodrigue stopped Lind's initial shot, but the rebound came right back to him. Lind slipped a backhand five-hole into the net for his second goal of the season. Rockford answered to tie it at one, and that's where it stayed through a tight third period.

Matt Murray was the reason regulation ended level rather than in Milwaukee's favor. The veteran netminder stopped all 12 shots he faced in the third period and finished with 28 saves on the night, earning his 15th win of the season. Rockford had chances but couldn't solve him when it mattered most.

The two points carried significant weight in the standings. Milwaukee moved eight points clear of both Rockford and the Iowa Wild for the final playoff spot in the Central Division, pushing their season total to 53 points with 17 games remaining.

The Admirals now head out on a four-game road trip, opening Friday night at 6 p.m. against league-leading Grand Rapids. Milwaukee returns home Saturday, March 21 at 6 p.m. to face the Griffins. With the cushion they just built, they control their own fate down the stretch.
