Predators Assign Fedor Svechkov to Milwaukee Admirals for AHL Calder Cup Push
Nashville reassigned 22-year-old center Fedor Svechkov to the AHL Milwaukee Admirals to bolster Milwaukee's Calder Cup push and free an NHL roster spot.

Nashville moved a promising but struggling depth piece down the lineup on Jan. 29 when general manager Barry Trotz announced that 22-year-old center Fedor Svechkov had been reassigned to the Milwaukee Admirals. The move hands Svechkov a reset opportunity in the AHL while giving the Predators an immediate roster adjustment ahead of their game in New Jersey.
Svechkov, listed at 6-foot, 187 pounds and Nashville’s first-round pick in 2021, had appeared in 49 games for the Predators this season, recording nine points on two goals and seven assists and firing 55 shots on goal. His NHL totals stand at 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 101 career games, and he owns a strong AHL track record with Milwaukee, 51 points (21 goals, 30 assists) in 70 appearances. Local reporting notes Svechkov began the season as the team's second-line center but moved into a fourth-line role as production dried up.
Public accounts differ on the depth of his slump. CBS reported Svechkov was "scoring once in his last 20 games," and included an image caption noting "Svechkov (upper body) was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Thursday," adding that he was injured the preceding Tuesday but "is likely to return to action this weekend for the Admirals." The Tennessean reported he "went without a point the last 14 games." Those discrepant figures reflect differing windows used by outlets; official game logs would pin down the exact stretch.
The reassignment has immediate NHL ripple effects. CBS projected Tyson Jost to enter the Predators lineup in New Jersey in Svechkov's stead. Nashville also recalled defenseman Andreas Englund from Milwaukee two days earlier, part of a flurry of internal roster moves. The Predators' organizational shuffle included another AHL recall and demotion: TheHockeyNews noted defenseman Marc Del Gaizo was also sent to Milwaukee after clearing waivers, a move tied to his roster and Group VI unrestricted free agent status this summer and the team's recent signing of Andreas Englund to a one-year, $775,000 contract.

For Milwaukee, Svechkov arrives as the Admirals solidify a Calder Cup bid. Milwaukee won the AHL Central Division at 40-21-5-6 (91 points) and has clinched a fifth straight playoff trip. The Admirals will welcome Svechkov and ECHL call-up Jack Matier in Des Moines for a weekend pair against the Iowa Wild; Matier enters with two goals and five assists and a +16 rating in 25 ECHL games this season and nine career Admirals points in 58 games. Milwaukee's next home date is Feb. 3 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Panther Arena.
Svechkov's return to Milwaukee is both a development move and a high-stakes audition. If he rediscovers his AHL scoring touch, he could accelerate Milwaukee's postseason ceiling and stake a stronger claim for an NHL recall; if the skid continues, Nashville will face tougher decisions about his long-term role in a packed forward group. Fans in Milwaukee and Nashville will be watching how quickly he converts experience into production down the stretch.
