Predators Recall Veteran Goalie Matt Murray From Milwaukee Admirals
Predators recalled veteran goalie Matt Murray from Milwaukee on Feb. 19, 2026 to serve as a practice netminder while Juuse Saros competes for Finland at the Olympics.

The Nashville Predators announced via press release on Feb. 19, 2026 that they recalled goaltender Matt Murray from the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals, a short-term roster and practice move while Juuse Saros represents Finland at the Winter Olympics. ProHockeyRumors reported, “He’ll supplement Justus Annunen as a practice goaltender while Juuse Saros continues representing Finland at the Olympics as they advance to the semifinals.”
RotoWire confirmed the recall and noted the Predators have resumed practicing during the final week of the Olympic break; “Murray was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Thursday,” RotoWire wrote, and added that Murray “will presumably head back to the Admirals ahead of Nashville's game against Chicago on Feb. 26.” CBS Sports syndicated that same timeline, framing the move as practice coverage rather than a long-term promotion.
The recall brings a goalie with recent AHL pedigree but a mixed 2025-26 ledger. ProHockeyRumors and RotoWire list Murray’s current Milwaukee line at 29 appearances with a 12-14-2 record, a 2.86 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. PHR’s analysis was blunt: “This season, Murray’s numbers have regressed significantly this season. He’s still a serviceable starting option for Milwaukee, but with a .904 SV% and 2.86 GAA in 29 showings with a 12-14-2 record, he doesn’t jump off the page.”
That regression contrasts with Murray’s breakout campaign and honors a season earlier. An NHL.com Predators release dated Jan. 31, 2025 recorded Murray at 26 games with Milwaukee that year, a 13-7-3 mark, a 2.31 GAA, a .927 save percentage and one shutout, and it noted he was named to the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic. ProHockeyRumors also reports Murray was an AHL Second-Team All-Star last season after leading the league with a .932 save percentage in 43 games.

Murray’s resume includes NHL experience and a recent contract structure that keeps him in Nashville’s depth chart. PHR records four NHL starts for the Dallas Stars across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns, a 2-2-0 NHL record, one NHL shutout and a career NHL save percentage of .885. PHR further reports Murray re-signed with Nashville on a two-year, two-way deal that “more than doubled his minors salary” and that he “remains under contract through next season.”
A Calgary-area native born Feb. 2, 1998, Murray debuted professionally with AHL Texas late in 2021-22 and is in his fifth pro season according to PHR. For the short term, Nashville gets a veteran practice presence behind Justus Annunen while Saros skates in Olympic elimination rounds; the club and outlets expect Murray to return to Milwaukee before the Predators’ Feb. 26 trip to Chicago unless roster needs change.
