Felix Unger Sorum broke a 22-game goal drought in dramatic fashion, finishing with two goals and an assist as the Chicago Wolves edged the Colorado Eagles 5-4 in overtime in Loveland. The Wolves snapped Colorado’s three-game winning streak and extended their road points streak to 15 contests, while Cayden Primeau made 39 saves on 43 shots to secure the victory.

Chicago struck first when Unger Sorum opened the scoring at 16:48 of the first period with a power-play wrister from the bottom of the right-wing circle. That tally was assisted by Justin Robidas and Bradly Nadeau and represented Unger Sorum’s ninth goal of the season at the time. Colorado outshot Chicago 15-4 in the opening frame but trailed 1-0 after the period.

Early in the second, defenseman Dominik Badinka jammed home a rebound 4:39 in, his fifth goal of the season, with helpers to Nikita Pavlychev and Evan Vierling. Colorado then answered with a three-goal run in the middle frame that put the Eagles ahead at intermission. Team accounts differ on which forwards factored into that sequence; Chicago listed Jayson Megna, T.J. Tynan and Alex Barre-Boulet as the three second-period scorers, while Colorado’s release highlighted Jayson Megna, Tye Felhaber and Alex Barre-Boulet as multi-point contributors. The official box score will reconcile the discrepancy.

Domenick Fensore tied the game 3-3 early in the third when he picked off a clearing attempt and fired a wrist shot from the point that beat Isak Posch to the glove side for his eighth of the year. With 7:33 remaining, Nikita Pavlychev batted a forehand past Posch off a feed from Unger Sorum for Pavlychev’s ninth goal. Just 2:13 later Tye Felhaber answered to knot the score 4-4 and force overtime.

The extra session lasted under a minute. “Unger Sorum ended it :56 into the extra session when the forward weaved through defenders before wiring a wrist shot from the left circle that sailed past Posch to the stick side,” Chicago’s release recounted. Colorado’s account added: “Unger Sorum would drive through the left-wing circle before burying a wrister and giving Chicago the 5-4 win just 56 seconds into the extra session.” Ryan Suzuki was credited with an assist on Unger Sorum’s 10th goal of the season.

Primeau’s 39 saves contrasted with Isak Posch’s 13 saves on 18 shots; Posch was charged with the overtime loss. Chicago’s special teams were decisive: the Wolves went 2-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. Chicago improved to 22-10-5-5 on the season while Colorado sits at 23-10-2-3.

Beyond the box score, the result matters for Unger Sorum’s development. Rotowire noted, “He had gone 22 games without a goal prior to Friday. He has started to pick up the pace as a playmaker with 14 helpers over his last 10 outings. Overall, he's at 10 goals, 39 points, 57 shots on net and a plus-6 rating through 42 appearances for the Wolves in his second AHL campaign.” The Eagles and Wolves meet again Saturday at 7:05 p.m. MT at Blue Arena; fans can obtain single-game tickets or call/text (970) 686-SHOT for information.
