Chuck Allen Memorial Pickleball Tournament returns to Queensbury for charity

Registration for the 6th Annual Chuck Allen Memorial Pickleball Tournament closed at 11:55 on July 20, putting Queensbury players on the clock for one of the area’s most established summer pickleball events. The tournament is set for July 25-26 at Jenkinsville Park, also listed as the Jenkinsville Courts, in Queensbury, New York.

The schedule gives amateurs a clear two-day format. Saturday, July 25 is set aside for men’s and women’s play for all levels, while Sunday, July 26 brings mixed doubles for all levels. The Adirondack Pickleball Club listed Sunday registration at 8:00 a.m., with play beginning at 8:30, giving the final day an early start for players who want a place in the draw.

What separates this event from a standard bracket is the memorial-and-fundraising mission attached to it. The tournament has raised more than $30,000 to benefit the community, and that number gives the event a weight that goes beyond medals or local bragging rights. A post in the Pickleball of the Capital District group included a family message saying they were “so very grateful for the donations made by pickle ball players at the Chuck Allen Memorial Tournament sponsored by the ADK Pickleball.”

That charitable pull helps explain why the tournament keeps drawing a broader field than a typical weekend local. Players still get competitive doubles on public courts, but the entry also feeds a cause tied directly to Chuck Allen’s memory and to the people who support the event year after year. For many amateurs, that is the difference between another tournament and one worth making time for.

The setting matters too. Town of Queensbury Parks and Recreation describes Ridge/Jenkinsville Park as an 80-acre park at 133 Jenkinsville Road, open daily during daylight hours, with pickleball courts No. 1-8 among its facilities. That public-park backdrop gives the tournament the feel of an open community stop rather than an exclusive club event, and it keeps the action rooted in a place local players already know. With the registration deadline now gone and play days fixed for late July, the tournament has moved from calendar item to near-term destination.
