DJI's teaser confirms it plainly: the Avata 360 is an "8K flagship 360° drone," and the global launch event is set for March 26, 2026 at 12:00 PM GMT. For US pilots watching the livestream, that is 8:00 AM EDT. DJI's teaser copy, "Above It All, See It All," was posted to the DJI Global account on March 10, confirmed the Avata 360 by name, and locked in the hashtag #DJIAvata360 alongside the launch time.

The Avata 360 will be DJI's first consumer drone with a built-in 360-degree camera system and a follow-up to 2024's Avata 2. It is the first DJI drone that does not require pilots to frame shots during flight — and that shift sounds small until you realize it is the same leap action cameras made when they went from fixed-lens to 360.

Leakers have been divulging details ahead of the official reveal. Tipster Jasper Ellens shared supposed promotional material and packaging showing that the device will feature a cinewhoop-style frame with enclosed propellers, much like the Avata 2, with the key distinction being a dual-camera setup for recording 360-degree video. Rumors also point to replaceable lenses using a screw-in mechanism, with other possible features including a 38.6Wh battery. That battery capacity compares favorably to the Avata 2's 31.8Wh cell, which currently retails for $115, with the new pack expected to come in around $80.

There is considerable discussion online about the likely propeller count, with leaked pictures suggesting there might be four. A circulated FPV clip, described by Digital Camera World as something that "could only have been shot with the 360 drone," has been building anticipation in FPV communities for weeks. Notably, Jasper Ellens pointed out that DJI appears to have broken from its usual announcement pattern, typically refraining from giving away too many details in its teasers.

The Avata 360 received FCC approval on November 19, 2025 (FCC ID: SS3-DVN3NT), a month before the FCC foreign drone ban was announced, meaning it is grandfathered in under current rules and can be legally sold and operated in the United States.

The drone is reportedly coming in at 400 grams, well beyond the 250g category, meaning pilots will need to register it and comply with Remote ID rules regardless of whether they fly recreationally or under Part 107.

On shipping, the picture is murkier. An earlier expectation had the Avata 360 reaching US buyers in the first week of April, but a community leak has complicated that timeline. Italian DJI expert Mauro Tandoi shared a screenshot from the drone's FPV interface on X (credited to YouTube channel losvideosdefelix), with reporting suggesting "sales outside China may be postponed until after the third week of April, possibly starting around April 24, 2026." DJI has not published an official shipping schedule for any specific market.

The competitive context is direct. The Insta360 Antigravity A1, which debuted last December, occupies the same 8K/360-degree FPV space, and the Avata 360 is widely positioned as DJI's answer to it. The question now is whether DJI can find a way to keep costs competitive for loyal customers not already distracted by the now-established Antigravity A1.

Price, battery life under active 360 capture, bundle configurations, and whether the Avata 2 remains in the lineup alongside the new model are all still unknown. Pre-orders are expected to open immediately after the stream, and a "Notify Me" button is already live on DJI's site. The answers arrive tomorrow at noon GMT.
