DJI Power 1000 Mini gives drone racers portable trackside charging power
DJI’s Power 1000 Mini gave FPV crews a 1008Wh field battery, fast enough to keep packs, laptops and race-day gear moving far from an outlet.

DJI’s Power 1000 Mini landed as a tool built for the hours between heats, not the podium. The compact power station packed a 1008Wh battery into a frame measuring 314 by 212 by 216 millimeters and weighing 11.5 kilograms, giving drone racers a portable source of power when a track, parking lot or remote practice site offered nothing but open space.
For FPV pilots, the appeal was practical: two USB-A ports, two AC outlets and an SDC port turned the unit into a rolling pit wall. It could output up to 1000W and support some 1200W appliances, enough to keep laptops running, batteries topped off and field gear alive through a long flying session. That kind of power management often decided how many packs made it into the air before sunset.

The charging numbers mattered just as much. With the right cable, DJI said an Air 3S battery could jump from 10 percent to 95 percent in 30 minutes. The Power 1000 Mini itself could reach 80 percent in 58 minutes on wall power and go fully charged in 75 minutes, a turnaround that kept it from becoming dead weight between sessions. It also supported car and solar charging, including a built-in 400W car charger and a 400W MPPT module for direct solar-panel use, giving crews options when the nearest outlet was miles away.

DJI built the unit with LFP battery cells, aiming for thermal stability and long life. The claimed durability was about 80 percent capacity after 4,000 charge cycles, backed by flame-retardant materials, real-time temperature monitoring and UPS behavior with a 0.01-second switchover time. It was not yet available in the United States through official channels, which left American pilots watching a piece of gear that fit the sport’s growing need for portable power even if it was not a drone itself.
