FAMU Releases 2026 Schedule Featuring Miami, Orange Blossom Classic, Quinn Gray
Florida A&M released its 2026 football schedule featuring Miami, the Orange Blossom Classic, and Quinn Gray Sr.'s first season. The slate includes six home games and two neutral-site matchups.

Florida A&M will open the 2026 season at Bragg Memorial Stadium against Albany State on Aug. 29 in a schedule that immediately raises the program's national profile. The Rattlers have two neutral-site showdowns at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, including the Orange Blossom Classic against South Carolina State on Sept. 6 and a Thursday night meeting with the Miami Hurricanes on Sept. 10, bookending a gauntlet that will test depth and readiness under new leadership.
The university released the schedule on Jan. 26, and the calendar is the first full roadmap for Quinn Gray Sr. as head coach after a 5-7 (4-4 SWAC) finish in 2025. Gray inherits a slate that mixes high-visibility non-conference opponents and a full Southwestern Athletic Conference itinerary designed to reassert FAMU in the SWAC title conversation. The non-conference slate also includes a Sept. 19 game against Tennessee State.

Home dates are concentrated in the fall, with the SWAC home opener against Alabama State on Sept. 26 and conference matchups against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Oct. 24, Southern on Oct. 31, and Mississippi Valley State on Nov. 14 rounding out six total home games. Road tests include Alabama A&M on Oct. 10, Jackson State on Oct. 17, and Alcorn State on Nov. 7. The regular season will close with the Florida Classic against Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 21 in Orlando, a marquee rivalry that traditionally drives ticket sales and alumni engagement.
From a competitive standpoint, the back-to-back neutral-site games at Hard Rock carry real consequences. Playing South Carolina State in the Orange Blossom Classic provides a prime HBCU showcase platform that highlights the Marching 100 and fan culture, while the Thursday night matchup with the Miami Hurricanes gives exposure against an FBS opponent and likely a financial payout that supports the athletic department. The quick turnaround between those games presents roster management challenges; special teams play and depth in the offensive line and secondary will be pivotal in short weeks.
Business and recruiting implications are clear. Neutral-site fixtures and an FBS opponent increase television and ticketing value, growing the program's brand in South Florida and nationally. For Quinn Gray Sr., the schedule is an opportunity to use early high-profile moments to boost recruiting momentum, particularly with prospective quarterbacks and defensive backs who will weigh visibility and postseason aspirations.
Culturally, the Orange Blossom Classic and Florida Classic remain more than football games; they are focal points for alumni networks, band pageantry, and HBCU traditions that generate civic pride and economic activity in host cities. For FAMU fans, the 2026 calendar blends those traditions with strategic scheduling designed to elevate the Rattlers' competitive standing.
What comes next is execution: Gray must convert a 5-7 campaign into measurable improvement while leveraging Miami and the classic weekends to energize the roster and recruit. The openings in late August and early September will tell whether Florida A&M can turn schedule-driven visibility into wins and long-term momentum.
