Quinn Fordham Gray Sr. opened his first major move as Florida A&M head coach by unveiling an inaugural coaching staff that blends experienced tacticians, local connections, and holdovers from the previous regime. Gray posted the announcement to Facebook on Jan. 25 and framed the group as a force to restore program momentum; he wrote, “Years of experience, proven winners, and undeniable relationships that will keep us grounded in work and make sure that every person that touches this program is ‘ALL IN’ and ready to Restore the Strike.”

The headline hires include Ryan Lewis Sr. as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Lewis guided Alabama State units to top finishes in the Football Championship Subdivision from 2022 to 2024 and most recently served as the cornerbacks coach at UAB. On offense, Nicholas Sewak will serve as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, while Reid Sanders will coach quarterbacks. Ron Dugans returns to Tallahassee as wide receivers coach and pro scout liaison; Dugans is a former Florida State receiver and assistant, and a FAMU High School star and Tallahassee native. Special teams and defensive interior work will be handled by Elijah Haggard, listed as special teams coordinator and interior defensive line coach.

Gray also filled important support and development roles. Casey Warming will be tight ends coach and transfer portal/junior college recruiting coordinator, and Gray is retaining Warming from James Colzie III’s staff. Andre Pope remains on staff as defensive pass game coordinator and cornerbacks coach, also retained. Orlando McKinley Jr. appears among the retained assistants with dual reporting in announcements as assistant special teams coach and defensive backs coach as well as a defensive analyst/assistant special teams role. Other on-staff positions include Chris Cash coaching safeties and nickelbacks; defensive ends or edge line duties assigned to Dahon Mixon; Billy Rolle overseeing player development and high school relations; Kennedy Marshall directing on-campus recruiting; David Eggleston as recruiting graduate assistant; Brendan Deanda as a student offensive assistant; and Larry Williams as director of football operations and chief of staff. Williams is identified as a former Rattler player who most recently worked with the University of Florida program and previously served as running backs coach at Tennessee State.

Gray is operating with a $1.2 million salary pool for assistants, a financial commitment that signals an aggressive approach to staffing and recruiting infrastructure. Social reaction was immediate and enthusiastic, with one Instagram post declaring the staff “LOADED!!!”

Not all listings were uniform across outlets. The defensive quality control/nickelback role appears in reporting under three spellings of the coach’s name - Mikey Victor, Mycal Victor, and Mycal Victory - and titles for several assistants such as Dahon Mixon and Orlando McKinley Jr. vary by report. Gray has indicated more assistant hires will be announced, leaving open additional roster building ahead of spring work.

For fans and recruits, the mix of NFL-experienced coaches, local ties through Dugans and Williams, and retained assistants gives Florida A&M an instant narrative: continuity plus reinvestment. The next milestones are confirmation of remaining hires, spring practice, and how Gray’s staff performs in the transfer portal and recruiting cycle as they attempt to "Restore the Strike.
