Duotone unveils lightwind Ventis FS wings and beginner foils

Duotone’s latest wingfoil package asked a practical question: can one release make lightwind takeoffs easier, help new riders progress faster and cut the time spent assembling gear on the sand? The answer, based on the Ventis FS wings, Lift and Free foils and the new AL 3BS mast system, looked less like a single breakthrough and more like a carefully built system for moving more riders onto the water sooner.

The headline piece is the Ventis FS family, which Duotone positioned as its next-generation lightwind wing solution. The Ventis FS D/LAB uses premium Aluula construction and a refined profile aimed at maximum lift and efficiency in the lightest wind, while the standard Ventis FS adds the new Fusion System strut design to improve responsiveness and precision. Duotone also built in Fusion handles and boom compatibility, and pitched the wing as one that gets riders on foil without demanding advanced pumping technique.

That matters because lightwind sessions are often where enthusiasm dies first. A wing that lifts earlier and tracks more cleanly does not just help advanced riders stretch marginal afternoons into usable water time. It also lowers the skill barrier for anyone still learning how to connect power, board speed and timing before the wind fades. In that sense, the Ventis FS launch goes directly at one of wingfoiling’s biggest bottlenecks.

Duotone paired that with two foils aimed at opposite ends of the learning curve. The Lift foil is a glass build for beginners and schools, giving entry-level riders a more forgiving platform for first flights and repeated drills. The Free foil is the more accessible version of Duotone’s all-round foil platform, designed to keep the feel of the original SLS version while broadening its reach. Together, they turn the release into a progression ladder rather than a one-off premium drop.

The other meaningful change is the mast hardware. The AL 3BS mast update brings a tool-free one-screw solution and a 3BS+ connection that is meant to work across the foil range. It is not the flashiest part of the launch, but it directly attacks the slow, frustrating side of foiling: rigging, swapping and getting ready for another session.

That is where Duotone’s package feels most convincing. It is smart bundling, yes, but it is also a clear attempt to smooth the path from first flight to more committed riding, with fewer delays between wanting to foil and actually getting on the water.
