Three Northwest Indiana players named to 2026 All-Star Futures roster

Three Northwest Indiana players earned spots on the 2026 Indiana All-Star Futures roster, another clear marker that the region keeps producing underclass talent good enough to draw statewide attention. The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association announced the boys Futures roster on April 5, and the selection sent three NWI athletes into a 24-player showcase built for freshmen and sophomores.

The Futures Game sits below the senior all-star stage, but it carries real weight because it is reserved for the state’s top early-cycle prospects. The format splits 24 players into two teams, giving coaches and evaluators a closer look at players whose value goes beyond raw scoring and into size, versatility, decision-making, defensive potential and how they compete against elite peers.

The 2026 boys and girls games were scheduled for June 1 at New Palestine High School, with the girls tipping at 6 p.m. and the boys following at 8 p.m. That setup put the Northwest Indiana selections on the same statewide stage as the best freshmen and sophomores from across Indiana, a useful checkpoint for players who are still building toward bigger roles in high school and, eventually, beyond.

For Northwest Indiana, the roster spots also fit a longer pattern. The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has put on the Futures Games for multiple years, and the girls event was described as the third annual edition in 2025. A 2024 boys roster announcement showed the same event structure had already taken root, which has turned the Futures stage into an established early-read on who may become the next major names in Indiana basketball.

The 2026 event also carried competitive context beyond the selections themselves. The North squads swept the Futures All-Star Games, adding another layer to the northern half of the state’s hold on the underclass spotlight.
