Modo Dominates Bluebonnet Stakes, Scores Easy Lone Star Victory
Modo turned the Bluebonnet into a procession, clearing by 5 1/2 lengths in 1:16.31 and strengthening her case as a durable black-type filly at Lone Star.

Modo did not just win the Bluebonnet Stakes. She turned Lone Star Park’s first major spring stakes into a display of control, opening up by 5 1/2 lengths in 1:16.31 and making the $81,000-added race look far smaller than its billing.
The 4-year-old daughter of Liam’s Map carried 124 pounds over 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast dirt track in Race 7 on April 16, the opening day of Lone Star’s 41-day Thoroughbred meet. Lane Luzzi kept her in striking position before the filly drew away for trainer Kinnon LaRose and owner Joel Politi, giving the pair another black-type win and another reminder that Modo’s best asset may be reliability as much as raw speed.
That reliability has become the story of her season. Modo left the Bluebonnet with a career mark of 11 starts, 5 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third, along with $301,146 in earnings. Her 2026 line now stands at 3 starts, 2 wins and $97,773 earned, a profile that matters in a division where sharp but inconsistent runners can fade quickly once the stakes trail thickens.

Too Much Kiki chased home in second and Naval Woman was third, but the margin made the finish feel more like confirmation than competition. Global Holiday, Blushing Belle, Successfulpath, Stacy’s Princess and Scattered Mischief completed the order behind the top trio. Modo’s pedigree also continues to point toward versatility, and her ability to deliver on dirt at 6 1/2 furlongs added another useful layer to a campaign that already had momentum before she loaded for the Bluebonnet.
For Politi and LaRose, the victory came in a field limited to Texas-bred fillies and mares 3 and older, on a day that showcased the strength of Lone Star’s regional stakes program. The Bluebonnet was listed among the early-season fixtures leading into later stakes such as the Steve Sexton Mile, Texas Derby and Ouija Board Distaff, with Lone Star’s 2026 schedule also featuring the Chamberlain Bridge Stakes, Memorial Day Sprint and Speightstown Sprint on May 25.

If the Bluebonnet was supposed to sort out which runner had staying power in the division, Modo delivered the answer with force. She is not just winning; she is building a résumé, and that kind of dependable black-type record can prove more valuable than the flashier form lines around her.
