Tattersalls publishes 182-strong Craven Breeze-Up catalogue for April
Tattersalls has catalogued 182 two-year-olds for the Craven Breeze-Up, with Havana Grey supplying 19 entries; breezes are set for Monday 13 April at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile, 9.30am.

Tattersalls has published a 182-strong catalogue for the 2026 Craven Breeze‑Up Sale, confirming the breeze session at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Monday 13 April from 9.30am and sale sessions on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 April to follow the conclusion of racing on the first two days of the Craven Meeting. The catalogue is viewable on Tattersalls’ website and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives from Friday 6 March.
The sale arrives with the Craven Breeze‑Up pitched as a producer of top-level talent, a claim Tattersalls underlined by citing Believing, the Mehmas mare who won the 2025 Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint and represents the breeze‑up’s fifth individual Group 1 winner since 2022. Believing’s purchase path is part of the narrative: bought for 115,000 guineas by Highclere from Kilminfoyle House Stud in 2022 and subsequently acquired by M.V. Magnier for 3,000,000 guineas.
Tattersalls Managing Director Matthew Prior framed that track record and the catalogue composition plainly: “Al Quoz Sprint winner Believing was the sale's fifth individual Group 1 winner since 2022 and crowned another excellent year on the racecourse for the Craven Breeze‑Up Sale, Europe's leading breeze‑up sale for Group 1 winners. [...] No fewer than 39 of the sires represented in the catalogue have already produced Classic or Group 1 winners including Acclamation, Blue Point, Frankel, Ghaiyyath, Invincible Spirit, Justify, Lope De Vega, Mehmas, Night Of Thunder, Sands Of Mali, Starman, Sea The Stars and Wootton Bassett. Meanwhile, no sire will be better‑represented at the sale than Havana Grey, who is responsible for 19 of the 182 entries. [...] The breeze for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze‑Up Sale will take place at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse on Monday 13th April starting at 9.30am, with the sale taking place on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th April after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of Newmarket's three‑day Craven Meeting.”
The sire table is notable: Havana Grey tops the list with 19 catalogued two‑year‑olds, Starspangledbanner supplies 13 and Mehmas 12. Tattersalls and TDN note that “no fewer than 39” sires represented have already produced Classic or Group 1 winners, with named stallions including Acclamation, Blue Point, Frankel, Ghaiyyath, Invincible Spirit, Justify, Lope De Vega, Night Of Thunder, Sands Of Mali, Starman, Sea The Stars and Wootton Bassett.
American blood is well represented on the entries page. Tattersalls lists proven Grade 1 sires AMERICAN PHAROAH, BLAME, GOOD MAGIC, JUSTIFY, OMAHA BEACH, TIZ THE LAW and TWIRLING CANDY among the catalogue. First crops from American first‑season sires EARLY VOTING, JACK CHRISTOPHER, NASHVILLE and SPEAKER’S CORNER appear, while domestic first two‑year‑olds by first‑season sires include BAAEED, BAYSIDE BOY, BLACKBEARD, MINZAAL, NAVAL CROWN, PERFECT POWER, PERSIAN FORCE and STATE OF REST.

Leading consignors and draft sizes point to familiar buyers’ targets. Willie Browne’s Mocklershill heads the catalogue with 10 lots, while Knockanglass Stables, Tally‑Ho Stud and consignor Cormac Farrell each offer nine juveniles. BUCA chairman and Grove Stud boss Brendan Holland described the catalogue as “one of the strongest he has ever seen on paper.”
BloodHorse flagged a clutch of well‑bred lots by number and family. Lot 3 is a daughter of Good Magic out of Fiftyshadesofhay; lot 44 is a Palace Pier colt out of dual Group 1 winner Majmu; lot 63 is a half brother by St Mark’s Basilica to 2013 Irish Derby winner Trading Leather; lot 69 is a Frankel colt out of listed winner Onassis; lot 92 is a half sister to Ventura Storm; lot 120 is a Cotai Glory full brother to 2022 Prix de l’Abbaye scorer The Platinum Queen; lot 146 is a half brother by Too Darn Hot to 2017 German One Thousand Guineas winner Unforgetable Filly; and lot 52 is a half sister to Term of Endearment. BloodHorse also notes a half sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Line of Duty is included among the catalogue entries.
There is a minor timing discrepancy across reports: BloodHorse records Tattersalls’ announcement as 26 February, while Tattersalls’ own release sets availability of the catalogue from 6 March via its representatives. Instagram also confirmed the listing, posting: “The catalogue for the 2026 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale is now online, featuring 182 quality two‑year‑olds.”
Staged alongside Newmarket’s three‑day Craven Meeting, the 13–15 April programme once again positions the breeze session and sale as an early‑season focal point for domestic and overseas buyers tracking potential Classic and Group 1 performers. The breezes kick off at 9.30am on Monday 13 April; buyers and trainers will have the first look at a catalogue heavy on sprint sires and high‑profile family connections.
