Zoustar Filly Commands AU$200,000 to Top Magic Millions Adelaide Day One
A Zoustar filly from The Chase's draft sold for AU$200,000 to Philippines-based buyer Miguel Almeda, topping Day One of the 2026 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville.

The Zoustar filly in Lot 67 did what her pedigree suggested she might: she commanded the room. Offered by The Chase as agent at Morphettville on Thursday, the daughter of Tapitlikeitshot was knocked down for AU$200,000 to Philippines-based buyer Miguel Almeda, represented at the sale by his brother Jun, to headline the selective first session of the 2026 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.
The filly is the second foal of a Canadian-winning Tapit daughter of Gold Mover and is a half-sister to Maleen and Giant Move, the latter a stakes winner and dam of two Group winners. Her sire, Zoustar, holds the title of Australia's reigning champion sire, and BOBS eligibility added another layer of appeal to a lot that attracted serious international interest.
Vendor Smith, speaking after the sale, drew a direct line between this filly and a previous graduate from the same connections. "We also sold another filly Shadhavar who won the Magic Millions 3&4YO race down here and she's stakes placed and hopefully this filly can add to that graduates list," Smith said. The enthusiasm extended beyond results: "We love coming here. The buyers love coming here. The horses settle in so well and parade well." Smith added: "There's such a great history in Adelaide with trainers and breeders and now Magic Millions and we're delighted to be a part of it."
The session's second-highest price went to a The Autumn Sun colt from Cavaloce, Lot 175, sold by Glenn Lee Thoroughbreds as agent for Arrowfield Stud for AU$180,000. Shane McGrath Bloodstock and Clinton McDonald Racing snapped up the colt, who is the fifth foal of a stakes-winning Testa Rossa mare. A Wild Ruler colt from Cuban Twist, Lot 189, consigned by Willow Park Stud, rounded out the Day One podium at AU$150,000, going to the partnership of Dalziel Racing and Stokes Racing out of Victoria.

The Day One aggregate of AU$5,696,500 fell short of the equivalent 2025 session, which produced AU$6,833,500 from 139 lots sold. Of 218 catalogued, 125 lots were sold Thursday at an average of AU$45,572 and a median of AU$35,000, with 65 passed in and 28 withdrawn. The 2025 Day One average was AU$49,162, with a median of AU$40,000 and a top price of AU$260,000.
The result offers a useful point of comparison with last year's Adelaide sale, when a different Zoustar filly, Lot 255 out of Beauty Betty and consigned by Baramul Stud, topped the 2025 edition at AU$350,000 on March 18, 2025, selling to Blueblood Thoroughbreds in conjunction with Ciaron Maher Racing. That filly was the sole Zoustar yearling to sell across the two-day 2025 sale; a Baramul-consigned Zoustar colt failed to meet his AU$200,000 reserve by AU$10,000. Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch, reflecting on that 2025 edition, told ANZ Bloodstock News: "It showed this week that quality horses are still making plenty of money. We sold more horses for six figures than we did last year and I think last year we had some more significant horses than what we did this year. So we'll look to our local breeders to support this sale with their better horses going forward."
Day Two of the 2026 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale was scheduled to commence at 10:00am SA time on Friday.
