Kosmas Pickle Fest 2026 Draws Nearly 200 Competitors to Cebu City Courts
Ariella Arida won two golds at Cebu's Kosmas Pickle Fest, beating Sherry Cu and Marc Tagle 15-10 in the mixed doubles 35+ final alongside partner Christian Andres.

Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida blended poise and precision at the Net & Paddle courts in Cebu City on March 12, capturing two gold medals in the adult categories of the Kosmas Pickle Fest 2026 and establishing herself as the marquee name of a five-day festival that drew nearly 200 competitors across novice, intermediate and age-group divisions.
Arida opened her gold run by teaming with Sherry Cu to defeat Chatty May and June Andrea Gonzales 11-7 in the women's doubles 35+ final. She then returned to the court and completed the double, partnering with Christian Andres to beat Cu and Marc Tagle 15-10 in the mixed doubles 35+ championship. In that second final, Arida and Andres dictated the rallies, forcing errors while maintaining pressure at the kitchen line.
Christian Espinosa matched Arida's two-gold haul in the 20+ divisions. He and Jahleel Plasabas routed John Paul Juaton and Benjohn Juaton 15-2 in the men's doubles 20+ final, a scoreline that left little room for interpretation. Espinosa then crossed categories and partnered with Mary Seiw Yee to defeat Janlady Fuentes and Dan Galang 15-6 in the mixed doubles 20+ championship. Kevin Geniston and Andrei Sencio claimed bronze in the men's doubles 20+, while Sophia Calanog and Jarond Mesina finished third in the mixed doubles 20+.
Titles in the High Intermediate division were still being contested at press time when the adult results were filed.
The festival's youth component adds a direct pathway to regional competition. The Rising Stars U19 Sectional Tournament, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, will send its winners to the PCL Asia Grand Finals on Hainan Island, China in April. Backed by PCL Asia and supported by Milo, Summit and Pocari Sweat, the program aims to provide young players with competitive exposure and a pathway to international play as pickleball continues its rapid growth across the region.
That growth has deep local roots. Pickleball was first introduced in Cebu through a clinic in 2016, and what began as a small initiative has since developed into a vibrant local scene, with more players competing in organized tournaments every year. Nearly 200 competitors filling the Net & Paddle courts across multiple divisions is the clearest measure yet of how far the sport has traveled in less than a decade.
