Jacksonville baby shower pairs supplies with postpartum support services
Jacksonville parents got diapers, wipes and clothing at The Jessie, plus postpartum care, childcare and women’s health connections from local providers.

Diapers, wipes, bibs and baby clothing drew expectant parents to The Jessie in Jacksonville on Sunday, where Adore Me Nanny and JWB Rental Homes turned a baby shower into a practical support stop from noon to 3 p.m.
The setup said a lot about where pressure is landing for new families. Adore Me Nanny, a nonprofit focused on postpartum support, teamed with a rental home company because the need is bigger than a one-day celebration. Shaylin Williams, JWB’s resident relations specialist, said many JWB residents need extra help when they are expecting, and framed the event as part of a broader commitment to help families feel supported during life’s biggest moments.

That support went beyond the tables stacked with free supplies. Local community partners shared information on postpartum care, therapies, childcare and women’s healthcare, turning the shower into a fast-moving resource hub for parents who are trying to put a support network in place before the baby arrives. For families facing the usual startup costs of diapers and infant basics, plus the less visible costs of recovery and care after birth, the appeal was obvious: one place, one afternoon, and a direct line to services that can be hard to track down when time and money are tight.
The event also fits into a larger Jacksonville pattern. News4JAX reported in April 2026 that new 2024 data showed Duval County had a higher birth rate than the state average, but fewer moms were getting early prenatal care and more were going without care altogether. That gap helps explain why community groups, health providers and even landlords are stepping into the same space: baby showers are becoming a way to meet basic infant needs in public, visible fashion while connecting parents to help that can carry them past the first few weeks.

Jacksonville has seen this model before. News4JAX reported a first-ever community baby shower in the city in December 2023 hosted by the Florida Department of Health in Duval County, and a third annual community baby shower in December 2025 from DOH-Duval. Sunday’s gathering extended that local response, but with a sharper edge on postpartum support and household affordability, the kind of practical help families notice right away.
