Catalina Mancera marked a painful milestone with a baby shower that was as much about support as celebration. The pregnant girlfriend of late Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland shared emotional photos on Instagram on May 11, showing an open barn-styled venue lit with twinkling ceiling lights, blue and pink decorations, and blue frosted cookies stamped with “Baby Kneeland.”

Mancera said the love and support around her in “such a hard season” made everything feel brighter, and she thanked “the people God has placed in my life.” She also made clear that the day was not built by one side of the family alone. Both her family and Kneeland’s family helped put the shower together, turning the gathering into a shared gesture of care for the child she is carrying.

The photos landed six months after Kneeland died on Nov. 6, 2025, at age 24. Authorities said he crashed his car, fled on foot during a pursuit and was later found dead, with police describing the death as an apparent suicide. On Nov. 12, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Mancera was expecting Kneeland’s baby and said the team had created the Marshawn Kneeland Memorial Fund to help support her and the baby for life.

Mancera had already been speaking publicly through grief. Four days after Kneeland’s death, she wrote on Facebook that she was deeply broken and grieving. Later, she said she was mourning their future, including plans for marriage and raising a family. The baby shower photos offered a different kind of message: not closure, but continuity, with loved ones stepping in to honor Kneeland while preparing for the child he will never see born.

Kneeland’s death shook the Cowboys organization and widened beyond the locker room. Schottenheimer said the team wanted to make sure Mancera and the baby were taken care of, while a vigil in Kneeland’s honor underscored how his loss touched teammates, family and friends. For Mancera, the shower suggested that grief and preparation can exist in the same room, and that a family’s support can become its own kind of shelter.
