Be8 opens Milan subsidiary to expand biofuel exports to Europe

Be8 created Be8 Milan in Italy on June 11 to expand exports of biofuels and feedstocks into Europe. The new unit will handle soybean oil, fats, used cooking oil and residual inputs, and the company is also considering a logistics structure in Italy as a regional connection and distribution hub.

Be8 Milan will seek Italian National Scheme certification and ISCC EU certification, the sustainability standard that gives business entities access to the European Union market. The bloc’s RED III renewable-energy directive raised renewable-energy ambition and required member states to transpose the rules into national law by May 21, 2025. The Union Database for renewable and recycled carbon fuels launched in November 2024 and tracks consignments from raw-material origin to final fuel placement.

Biofuels help reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and improve the European Union’s energy security. A hub in Italy would give the company a local base for customers, certification work and distribution across the bloc.

Be8 President Erasmo Carlos Battistella said the Italy move was “another important step” toward the company’s strategic plan and expanding its geographic presence with renewable energy supply. Be8 already has a commercial office in Geneva and an industrial biodiesel unit in Domdidier, Switzerland, giving it an established European footprint before the Milan unit begins building out its sales and logistics role.

The company does not rule out local production in Italy, but any investment would depend on demand in the coming years.
