Chipotle promotes mental health benefits for crew and managers

Employees enrolled in a medical plan can reach licensed therapists, counselors and psychiatrists for confidential mental and behavioral health support, while Chipotle’s crew across more than 3,200 restaurants also get whole wellness benefits that include physical and mental health support. The company’s current package adds Calm Health at no cost for stress, anxiety, sleep and other everyday challenges, along with an employee assistance program that offers 24-7 confidential support.

A no-cost app and a round-the-clock help line are easier to use than a weekday appointment, especially when schedules change fast, meal periods run hot and personal stress does not wait for closing time. Chipotle’s setup also points workers to the Chipotle Employee Service Center for benefits help by phone or email.

In November 2019, Chipotle committed to providing access to mental healthcare and financial wellness for more than 80,000 employees in 2020. In May 2021, it launched Strive, a virtual mental wellness platform for associates and family members, and workers could still use in-person, phone or virtual visits with a licensed counselor through Health Advocate even if they were not enrolled in the company medical plan.

By January 2024, Chipotle had shifted to an employee assistance program powered by SupportLinc and CuraLinc Healthcare and added six free sessions with a licensed counselor or mental health coach. In the same benefits rollout, Chipotle would provide additional financial wellness and mental well-being support for more than 110,000 employees, while also hiring 19,000 additional workers for burrito season, from March to May.

Chipotle says more than 73% of its employees are Gen Z. Its wellness program offers eligible RSC employees and spouses enrolled in a Chipotle medical plan up to $700 in incentives.
