Dollar General Warehouse Worker Fatally Struck by Truck in Missouri

A contract security guard was killed late Wednesday night in the truck yard of the Dollar General Fresh distribution facility in Berkeley, Missouri, in an incident that left workers visibly shaken and drew police and emergency responders to the scene.

According to on-site reporting by VOTP News STL, the incident occurred in the truck yard area of the distribution center shortly before the start of the security guard's scheduled shift. Local outlet VOP News STL and a firsthand social media account describe the vehicle involved as a yard truck operated on site. One source reported to The Legal Advocate that the victim was struck by a semi-truck; that description conflicts with the yard truck accounts from on-scene sources, and the vehicle type has not been confirmed by official authorities.

The Legal Advocate reported that the worker was "pronounced dead at the scene." No name, age, or employing security contractor has been publicly identified.

Police and emergency personnel secured the perimeter and were still present when VOTP News STL reporters arrived. A source who spoke to those reporters on condition of anonymity said employees inside the distribution center had been instructed not to speak about the situation and were "visibly shaken by what had occurred." Despite the police presence outside, operations inside the facility continued.

The Dollar General Fresh facility in Berkeley functions as a regional distribution center for refrigerated and perishable goods supplied to stores throughout the area. The truck yard, where the fatal incident took place, sees continuous movement of semi-trailers, yard trucks, and delivery vehicles around the clock, according to VOTP News STL's on-scene account.

As of March 13, officials had not released details on how the incident unfolded or whether any citations or charges were pending. Dollar General had not issued a public statement, and no law enforcement agency had formally identified the responding jurisdiction by name in available reports.

Whether OSHA or Missouri workplace safety authorities have been notified or will open an investigation has not been confirmed. For a facility whose truck yard operates continuously and where contract workers move through at shift changes, the question of how a worker arrived at their post and ended up in the path of a moving vehicle will be central to any investigation that follows.
