That is where the NIST AI Risk Management Framework Playbook becomes useful. The playbook is not a compliance trophy or a policy deck that lives in a drawer. It also says its AI follows the same data residency policies as the customer’s account, with data processed and stored in the designated region. The company says it does not use customer data or content to train its AI models and does not allow others to do so.

That is not just privacy language. It is product governance. It means the company is operationalizing trust at the level where workers actually experience the software, especially when AI sits inside daily workflow management and project execution.

The company has also added AI governance controls for administrators. Admins can enable or disable AI capabilities, control access, monitor AI usage, and manage AI credits. Those are the kinds of controls that turn an abstract policy into something that security teams, IT teams, and workspace admins can actually use.

Scale is why this matters now

monday.com’s trust center says it secures the information of more than 245,000 customers worldwide. Its investor relations page says more than 250,000 customers worldwide use the platform. At that scale, AI governance is not a theoretical conversation among policy people. It becomes a daily operating issue for every product launch and every customer-facing promise.

The more monday.com leans into AI agents and automation, the more those controls matter. A feature that routes work or summarizes projects can save time only if it is trusted enough to be used. If it is too opaque, too broad, or too difficult to govern, adoption stalls. That is the failure mode the NIST playbook helps avoid.

The point is not to slow AI down. The point is to make sure the company can scale AI without outrunning its own controls. For monday.com, that is the difference between a clever feature and a durable platform advantage.
