Scott Pilgrim EX Launches on Switch and Switch 2 With Day-One Update
Tribute Games shipped Scott Pilgrim EX's first patch just over a week after launch, fixing progression softlocks and online multiplayer issues on both Switch models.

Scott Pilgrim EX arrived on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 alongside a wave of promotional support from Nintendo America, Nintendo UK, and the Indie World accounts, which pushed trailers and ran polls on favorite fighters. The game, set in Toronto and built around brawling through waves of enemies to save the band, launched to strong reception, with Nintendo Life awarding it a 9/10 and calling it "a complete delight for fans of the retro beat 'em up and video games as a whole."
Tribute Games followed up quickly. On March 11, 2026, the studio released Update 1, the game's first post-launch patch, for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The update targets progression blockers, softlocks, and online multiplayer problems reported since release. Switch-specific fixes were also included in the Nintendo versions alongside the broader corrections.
The patch notes, published in full on Steam, confirm several concrete changes: the team fixed multiple potential softlocks during quest progression, added a save game fix system to unblock players already stuck mid-progression, and corrected collision issues on breakable objects. Tribute Games also used the update to roll in balancing and gameplay improvements beyond the bug fixes.

The pace of the turnaround drew notice from the community. User "shoeses" on Nintendo Life wrote: "Wow this got a Patch way faster than Marvel Cosmic Invasion did. Wonder if it's because they're not working on two projects at once now."
The full changelog, including fixes categorized under potential spoilers, is available on Steam's store page for the title.
