Walmart says payroll changes won't affect pay dates or bank deposits

Walmart says payroll updates won't move payday. If direct deposit fails, fix bank details in Payroll Solutions Application and the money should reissue in about two days.

If your first question is whether a payroll change can push back payday, Walmart says no. The company says associates’ pay date stays the same and the bank account where wages are deposited does not change just because payroll technology changed.

What does change is the look of the pay statement and where associates check it. Walmart says associates should still use Online Paystub or Me@ to access pay details, even after wording on the pay statement changed during the 2025 payroll update. For day-to-day planning, the pay period calendar, not the new screen layout, still sets the rhythm of when money lands.

Walmart gave the payroll update a clear effective window: the pay period began March 22, 2025, ended April 4, 2025, and the paycheck date was April 10, 2025. Managers and people partners were told there would be an office hour session on April 9 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. CST for help with the change. Walmart also keeps a 2026 pay-period calendar for associates who want the year mapped out in advance.

If a direct deposit does not show up, Walmart’s instruction is specific: correct the banking information in the Payroll Solutions Application. Once that is fixed, the deposit is reissued electronically and should appear in about two days. If the associate does not update the bank information, Walmart says a live check is generated seven days after the pay date. That makes the first move a practical one: check the banking details before assuming payroll itself has gone wrong.

One-time payment requests follow a different path, but Walmart says that process also did not change. Managers enter the request in Workday for approval, and once it is approved, it is automatically processed in the next pay cycle. For associates trying to track compensation beyond the paycheck itself, Walmart’s Me@Walmart app added a Total Pay and Benefits feature in 2024 that shows pay, discounts, learning opportunities and benefits in one place.

Former employees are not left out of the system either. Walmart’s alumni portal directs ex-associates to information on 401(k)s, W-2s, paystubs and COBRA insurance options, a reminder that payroll questions often continue after the last shift. For current associates, the takeaway is straightforward: keep bank information current, use the official payroll tools, and trust the pay-period calendar, not the appearance of the stub, to tell you when payday is coming.
