90s-style cropped jeans return for spring and summer 2026
Cropped jeans are back with a sharper, smarter line for spring and summer 2026, led by Celine, Khaite, Chloé and Bottega Veneta.

The ankle-baring jean has moved out of the realm of casual filler and back into the polished part of the wardrobe. On the spring and summer 2026 circuit, Celine, Khaite, Chloé and Bottega Veneta gave cropped denim a cleaner, more deliberate shape, turning a familiar hem into the season’s smartest summer silhouette.
This is not just a nostalgia play. Cropped, cuffed jeans have been one of the denim looks dominating 2026 so far, and the momentum has been reinforced by a steady stream of high-profile wearers. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Naomi Watts and Kendall Jenner have all helped keep the cropped line visible, while Rihanna was photographed in March wearing a pair described as cropped and cuffed, and possibly from Khaite. The result is a denim story with both runway authority and real-life traction.
Khaite has been especially influential in giving the style its current polish. The house’s spring 2026 campaign, published in April, featured Kendall Jenner, and its fall/winter 2026 show took place on February 14. That combination of campaign and runway exposure matters because Khaite rarely treats denim as an afterthought; it tends to make jeans look exacting, architectural and expensive, which is precisely why the cropped silhouette feels newly refined rather than merely abbreviated.
Bottega Veneta brought a different kind of authority to the shape. Louise Trotter’s spring 2026 show for the house, staged on September 27, 2025, was her debut there, and the collection helped frame cropped denim as part of a broader conversation about proportion and precision. Chloé kept the silhouette in circulation too, with a Spring 2026 campaign in December 2025, a Summer 2026 campaign in February 2026 and a fall/winter 2026 show on May 3. Taken together, the schedule shows that the cropped jean did not arrive as a one-off styling trick. It was built into the season’s visual language.
The appeal now is practical as much as aesthetic. A straight or slim crop that lands just above the ankle creates the cleanest line for petites and anyone who wants to lengthen the leg visually. A slightly wider cuffed jean gives taller frames more shape without dragging the eye downward. The key is to keep the footwear crisp: slingbacks, pointed flats, low-vamp pumps and minimal sandals all make the hem look intentional, while bulky shoes can make it feel shortened rather than styled.

That is why this return reads as more than another denim cycle. Cropped jeans are back because the best houses in fashion have made them look exact, modern and wearable again, which is exactly what summer dressing needed.
