Song for the Mute channels maritime utility in Paris Fashion Week debut

Song for the Mute made its official-calendar debut at Lycée Victor Duruy in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, bringing a collection called Summer Blues to Paris Fashion Week Menswear Spring/Summer 2027, which ran from June 23 to 28, 2026. The Sydney label, founded in 2010 by Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty, used the runway to frame summer as a suspended state, where holiday drift collides with the routines waiting at home.

The clothes leaned into maritime utility and faded workwear, but the mood was softer and more haunted than practical. Salt-worn surfaces, muted color blocking and raw distressed textures gave the pieces a lived-in look, the kind of clothes that feel pulled from a harbor locker and remade for city heat. Techwear-adjacent details were not used to signal performance, but to create atmosphere, memory and a slightly blurred sense of place.

The collection drew on Ty’s childhood vacations in Tunisia and on ghurba, the Arabic concept of estrangement and homesickness. In the school garden, the brand staged an installation with Ty’s photography, empty clotheslines and a market-like spread of fruit and vegetables, a scene that made the runway feel like a half-remembered domestic snapshot rather than a clean showcase. The label is in more than 90 stores globally and is preparing to expand its European and U.S. stockists.

The adidas partnership continued across Originals and Performancewear, including a reworked Stan Smith set for a 2027 comeback and a TRAXION 1000 Hiker, also presented as a TRAXION silhouette, in multiple colorways. The footwear capsule pushed the court shoe and trail shoe in the same direction, with muted blocking and distressed finishes that made both pairs feel worn by weather rather than styled for it. Song for the Mute’s own adidas chapter began with adidas Running last season, when Spring/Summer 2026 marked the first step into that category with ADIRUN01.
