BEAMS turned Timberland’s 6-inch boot into something sharper, tougher and more city-minded for its 50th anniversary capsule, centering the drop on a custom-made laceless ring boot and matching it with a nylon jacket, denim pants and a leather belt. The result feels less like a nostalgia play than a careful edit of workwear utility, trimmed down for commuters who want grit without bulk.

The boot is the clear headline. BEAMS stripped away the lace holes on Timberland’s iconic 6-inch silhouette, creating a cleaner front and a more minimal profile while keeping the boot’s familiar, rugged stance. That move gives the ring boot a stronger fashion read than a standard field boot, though it also pushes it closer to collector territory than pure everyday practicality. For long days on the move, the lace-free setup is easier to slip on and off, but it gives up some of the dialed-in fit that makes the original so dependable.

BEAMS said the capsule was created to commemorate its 50th anniversary, and it also marks the first Timberland collaboration from the retailer to go beyond footwear and include apparel and a belt. The Japanese launch lineup spans six pieces: the boots, a jacket, a T-shirt, denim pants, a cap and a leather belt. The jacket can be worn in two lengths, while the pants use a detachable construction that creates three styling options, the kind of modular detail that makes sense for crowded trains, wet sidewalks and days that run from office to after-hours.

That versatility gives the capsule more real-world value than a straight logo drop. The nylon jacket, with its adjustable shape, and the 3WAY denim pants look built for weather swings and layering, not just shelf appeal. The belt, cut in the same color leather as the boots, ties the collection together in a way that feels considered rather than overdesigned. Timberland’s own U.S. page frames the project as “New York meets Tokyo” and says it revives archival silhouettes with utilitarian style, a fitting lens for a collaboration that balances heritage with wearability.

The launch strategy reinforced the retail muscle behind it. BEAMS held a pre-release at BEAMS Harajuku on April 10, 2026, with a launch event there from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., before the wider release on April 11. Timberland’s U.S. collaboration page goes even broader, listing an eight-product assortment with prices that include a $240 Buckle Boot with GORE-TEX Membrane, a $154 Denim Carpenter Zip-Off Pant and a $260 Nylon Zip Up Convertible Jacket. That spread suggests the story is bigger than one statement boot: Timberland still has enough retail gravity to anchor a capsule, and BEAMS knows exactly how to make heritage feel current without sanding off its edge.
