The WORKSOUT Aoyama x Carhartt WIP capsule looks less like a trophy drop and more like something you could actually wear to work, which is the whole point. Slated for April 18, the SS26 release centers on co-branded chore jackets and graphic tees, the kind of lineup that can live in a spring rotation instead of hiding behind plastic until resale chatter dies down.

That restraint matters because this collaboration has history. WORKSOUT, the Seoul retailer founded by Kang Seunghyuk in 2003, is marking its 20th anniversary in 2026, and Carhartt WIP brings a much longer workwear lineage, tracing back to Edwin Faeh’s 1989 European project and the 1889 Detroit origins of Hamilton Carhartt & Company. WORKSOUT opened its first Japanese flagship in Aoyama on April 11 at 3-17-6 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, and the capsule lands as part of that store’s Japan Exclusive Collection rollout. WORKSOUT has already shown this pairing is more than a logo swap, with a previous anniversary capsule built around Dearborn Canvas versions of the Santa Fe Jacket and Double Knee Pant, plus a sweatshirt, pocket T-shirt, and graphic work by Chris Ro.

The real question is whether this new set earns a spot next to standard Carhartt WIP staples. The answer is yes, if you want a cleaner, more city-friendly take on the label’s usual chore-coat language. A regular Carhartt WIP chore jacket tends to win on brute utility: boxy, dependable, and built to disappear into the rest of the fit. This one sounds sharper, tighter, and easier to style with non-workwear pieces. The tees should do the same job Carhartt WIP pocket tees always do, only with a little more visual noise, which is useful if the rest of your outfit is already doing the heavy lifting.

Style the jacket over a white tee, faded straight-leg denim, and beat-up sneakers for the commute, and it reads like the smartest kind of uniform. Throw it over tapered charcoal trousers with loafers or low-profile trainers, and it suddenly works for a client meeting without looking precious. The tees go even further: tuck one into olive fatigues with canvas sneakers, or layer it under the chore jacket with loose black pants for a simple, spring-ready uniform that still feels intentional.

The Tokyo-only energy will make the drop feel scarce, especially with the online raffle starting April 16 ahead of retail, but this is one of those collaborations that has actual wardrobe value. If you want a Carhartt WIP piece that looks built for daily wear rather than just collector photos, the chore jacket is the one to watch.
