Summerlin's New 90-Acre Grand Park Opens With Dedicated Pickleball Courts
Grand Park in Summerlin West opened with six lighted pickleball courts free to drop-in players, the most at any single park in Summerlin's 300-plus-park network.

Before Grand Park, Summerlin's most court-dense outdoor pickleball venues maxed out at four courts each. The first phase of Grand Park, which opened earlier this year at 1001 Kettle Ridge Drive in Summerlin West, brings six dedicated, lighted courts to a single site, the largest single-park allocation in the community's 300-plus-park network.
Developer Howard Hughes Holdings commissioned the project and The Korte Company built it. The 22-acre first phase, designated Council Park, pairs those six pickleball courts with three lighted baseball fields, a full-sized basketball court with four hoops, a climbing play structure, a seasonal splash pad, adult fitness stations, shaded picnic areas with grills and a concession building. Summerlin calls it the largest park in the community's history.
The courts are dedicated to pickleball only, with a one-hour session limit enforced. Soft-sole or tennis shoes are required; bikes, rollerblades and rollerskates are prohibited within the court boundaries. Summerlin residents with an active Summerlin ID card can book time through the Summerlin Council at 702-341-5500 or via the online reservation portal. Drop-in play is free and open to the public.
All six courts are lit, which in Las Vegas carries more weight than it does at most latitudes. From May through September, midday temperatures routinely push past 100 degrees and compress viable play windows into early mornings or after sundown. Six courts that hold up past sunset add real capacity at exactly the hours players most want to be there.
The park sits at a connection point for Summerlin's 200-plus miles of trails, and The Korte Company's project documentation notes the layout was designed to frame views of Red Rock Canyon and the Las Vegas Strip from within the complex. On-site parking is available at the Kettle Ridge Drive entrance.
Nearby Terrace Park, a 2.5-acre facility also within Grand Park Village, adds four more lighted courts alongside two bocce courts and a playground, bringing the immediate neighborhood's outdoor pickleball total to ten dedicated courts.
Two additional phases of Grand Park remain in the planning stage, with Howard Hughes yet to announce what amenities they will include. The eventual 90-acre footprint could make Grand Park a regional-scale destination; whether it grows into something with tournament capacity will depend in large part on how quickly those first six courts fill up.
