Huntington’s Lunar New Year Festival Showcases Penjing and Tree Styling Demonstrations
Eastern Leaf Nursery will give live tree-styling demos 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. while Southern Breeze Tree and Stone Society mounts a penjing and viewing stone display 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Eastern Leaf Nursery will demonstrate live tree styling during The Huntington’s Lunar New Year Festival, with sessions running 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. both days as Southern Breeze Tree and Stone Society presents penjing and viewing stones in the Rose Hills Foundation Garden Court from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Feb. 21–22, 2026. The festival opens 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, California. Pasadena Weekendr headlined "Lunar New Year Festival Welcomes the Year of the Horse at The Huntington," and Pasadenanow noted that "Penjing and viewing stone displays and educational tree styling add a horticultural dimension." Performance programming is concentrated in Rothenberg Hall and Haaga Hall and in the Chinese Garden. Rothenberg Hall hosts Vietnamese traditional music and dance by Thủy Vân Dance Company at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Saturday, and Korean Classical Music and Dance Company at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Haaga Hall presents Mask Changer (Bian Lian) Baofeng Liu at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. both days. The Chinese Garden schedule lists Live Music Han Music Ensemble 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.–4 p.m., while Brush Painting by Peifang Liang runs 11 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2 p.m.–4 p.m. on both days.
Family programming fills the Munger Research Center Plaza. Story Time Theater readings by Oliver Chin are scheduled at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., with Oliver Chin book signings at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Illustrator Jennifer Wood will sign books 11 a.m.–3 p.m., and arts-and-crafts activities run 11 a.m.–4 p.m. A Photo Experience offering keepsake images and photos for purchase is open 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m. across both days. Martial arts demonstrations and lion dances are scheduled throughout both days at various locations on the grounds; specific times and sites are not enumerated in the Huntington schedule provided.

Horticultural highlights beyond the penjing display include Chinese Floral Arts displays by Rosa Zee in the Penjing Courtyard 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and a LEGO® Bricks Display, Liu Fang Yuan, The Garden Of Flowing Fragrance, built by Cindy Zhan, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The Huntington materials note that LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies.
