Sunreef unveils Ultima 88 catamaran, nearly 30 orders follow launch

Sunreef skipped a live water reveal in Singapore and still said the Ultima 88 drew nearly 30 orders, a sign premium cat buyers may now commit before stepping aboard.

Sunreef did not need to float the Ultima 88 in front of the crowd in Singapore to make the point. At the Singapore Yachting Festival, the shipyard used an exclusive virtual premiere and walkthrough presentation at Nebula bar in ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, then said the response was fast enough to produce almost 30 orders for the new model.

That matters because the Ultima 88 is not a niche toy. It is Sunreef’s 28.40-metre catamaran with a 9.30-metre beam, up to 387 square metres of living space and a choice between twin Volvo D13 IPS 1050 engines or a hybrid-eco setup with solar panels and electric cruising capability. Independent coverage says the boat can reach up to 26 knots and comes with an Ocean Lounge, pool, hydraulic swim platform, fold-down bulwarks and a jet-ski garage. In other words, this is a premium catamaran sold as much on lifestyle as on performance.

The launch also showed how Sunreef now sells the story around the boat. The company’s Ultima line runs from the 44 to the 111, and the 88 sits in the middle of a staged rollout that began with the Ultima 55’s global debut at the Dubai Boat Show 2025. The first Ultima 88, named Wasabi, began construction in December 2023 at Sunreef’s Ras Al Khaimah shipyard, which was officially inaugurated on 4 March 2024 after the Dubai International Boat Show and later described by the yard as fully functional from March 2024. The message is clear: this is a production-backed platform, not a one-off concept.

The celebrity halo is part of the sales pitch too. Sunreef announced on 26 March 2026 that Carlos Alcaraz had signed a contract for a fully customized Ultima 88, adding another recognizable name to a client list that already includes Rafael Nadal, Robert Lewandowski and Fernando Alonso. Alcaraz gives the brand a current, global sporting face, and Sunreef has clearly learned that prestige buyers read that language fluently.

Singapore itself was the right stage for it. The festival ran from 23 to 26 April 2026 at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, with more than 90 vessels, 200 brands and over 13,000 visitors. Sunreef said the event reinforced its presence in Asia. The stronger takeaway is even sharper: in the premium catamaran market, the sale now begins long before the sea trial, and Sunreef is betting that a virtual unveiling, a celebrity contract and a sharply defined model range can close buyers before they ever step aboard.
