Mapex Artist Phil Greco Leads Free Drum Clinic at Long and McQuade
Self-taught Sault Ste. Marie drummer Phil Greco ran a free interactive clinic at Long & McQuade on March 7, covering head selection, tuning, and mic placement.

Mapex artist Phil Greco brought his hometown crowd an afternoon of practical drumming knowledge at Long & McQuade's Sault Ste. Marie location on Saturday, March 7, presenting a free interactive clinic on head selection, kit tuning, and microphone placement as part of the store's annual Learning Series.
The session, held at 3:00 p.m. at 647 MacDonald Avenue in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, walked attendees through drum head selection and the differences between head types, the mechanics of changing heads, dialing in tuning across a kit, and the fundamentals of microphone selection and placement. Long & McQuade billed it as an interactive session, and the store's Instagram listing noted that Greco would be both discussing and demonstrating the material, giving the clinic a hands-on character beyond a straight lecture format.
Greco is a professional drummer who was born, raised, and still lives in Sault Ste. Marie. Self-taught, he picked up the instrument at age 12 and was performing in bands shortly after. Outside of clinics, he records and techs on various sessions across northern Ontario and runs his own home studio, Jettison Sound.

The March 7 clinic was promoted across the Long & McQuade store event page, Soo Spaces, Instagram, and the AllEvents platform. Soo Spaces marketed the event under the headline "Free Drum Clinic with Philly G!" and directed interested players to call 705-254-1756 to register.
Long & McQuade's Learning Series continued the following Saturday, March 14, with a guitar maintenance clinic led by Joey Marrocco, the store's go-to guitar tech, covering humidification, string changing, and setup work including truss rod adjustment.
