Sonique Drums, the Colorado-based women-owned percussion company, announced the Bead King beaded snare adapter on March 23, 2026, giving drummers who play beaded snares a significantly more versatile hardware connection option than its predecessor offered.

The Bead King is the successor to the original BS1 beaded snare adapter and the latest addition to the Sfx family of percussion accessories. Where the BS1 laid the groundwork, the Bead King takes a broader approach to compatibility: it expands compatibility to many other popular throw-offs that can adjust to or statically use a 7/8" hole spacing. Compatible throw-offs include NATO, Dunnett, Trick, DW MAG, SJC Quick Throw, and others.

The engineering refinements over the BS1 are practical and directly informed by real-world installation feedback. The adapter features a larger arch cutout to accommodate snare beads of all sizes and longer mounting slots to accommodate unexpected variances in throw-off hole spacing. The Bead King is designed to retro-fit throw-offs using the 7/8" hole spacing to beaded snares that typically use the traditional Ludwig hole spacing range of 2.00" to 2 11/16", made from machined aluminum weighing less than one ounce, with a mounting side that matches the curvature of the snare drum for a perfect fit against the shell. Dimensionally, it measures 3 1/32" in length, 5/8" in width, and 25/64" in height, and fits snare depths of 5 inches and beyond.

Three different bolt lengths are included in the hardware kit to accommodate varying shell thickness. Sonique framed the release in characteristically direct terms: "This is yet another example of how Sonique listens to drummers who not only expect, but demand better gear."

Founded in 2020, Sonique Drums is dedicated to crafting thoughtfully designed percussion accessories and steam-bent snare drums, with industry firsts including the NATO family of continually adjustable throw-offs and the socket drum key set distinguishing it from competitors. The Bead King fits into the company's Sfx trademark family alongside Snarefx, Kickfx, Kitfx, and NATO-1.

The Bead King adapter is available through soniquedrums.com, Reverb, Amazon, and Authorized Dealers. Sonique's snare drums and percussion accessories can also be found at select drum shops across the U.S. No retail pricing was included in the announcement, though the predecessor BS1 has carried a price point of $29.75 on the Sonique storefront.
