Tommy Clufetos, the Detroit-born veteran who has played with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, led a drum demo and clinic at 6:00 p.m. and then sat in with Rock Academy’s Showband for the 7:00 p.m. set at Colony Woodstock on Saturday, March 7, 2026, after doors opened at 5:30 p.m. The event, presented by Saugerties-based Rock Academy, was open to all ages and paired the touring pro with student musicians onstage.

The clinic portion was listed as a separate ticketed opportunity in the event listing, with Newsbreak noting, "For a special treat, ahead of the show, you can also purchase a ticket to a drum clinic by Tommy at 6pm." That session served as a hands-on demo before the Showband’s program of classic rock, soul, metal and some current song selections, a set the Rock Academy billed as its 2026 Showband "rocking the house" with students performing alongside Clufetos.

Clufetos arrived in Woodstock fresh off a high-profile stretch of dates that included playing Ozzy Osbourne’s solo set at Black Sabbath’s final charity concert, "Back To The Beginning," last summer and reprising that performance in a Brit Awards tribute last week. Newsbreak’s event copy specified the stadium appearance at Aston Villa Park in Birmingham, England. The clinic and sit-in gave local students a rare chance to play with a drummer who has worked with Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent.

Jason Bowman of Rock Academy, who said he first saw Clufetos at Barclays Center in 2013, welcomed the visit and the learning moment for students. "I saw Tommy play in 2013 at Barclays Center with Black Sabbath. He was the perfect addition to the legendary likes of Ozzy, Tony and Geezer, and the drum solo was nothing short of spectacular. There are just some drummers who are completely electric and memorable and Tommy is one of them. I’m excited for the kids to be onstage with such a powerhouse and to see what he brings to an intimate space like the Colony," Bowman said.

The appearance also dovetailed with Clufetos’ current work as a bandleader. Newsbreak promoted his new project TOMMY’S ROCKTRIP and noted the full-length album Beat Up By Rock n’ Roll is now available, describing the RockTrip live show as a direct take from the hard-rock influences that made Clufetos a sought-after drummer.

Rock Academy, which regularly brings major rock performers into close contact with young musicians, added Clufetos to its roster of guest artists for 2026; the show at Colony Woodstock included a photo credited to the school, listed as "Photo courtesy of Rock Academy." The March 7 clinic and student sit-in underscored the academy’s focus on pairing up-and-coming players with touring professionals for onstage experience.
