DDO Update 78.1 Brings Arcane Trickster Fixes, Balance Changes, and Quest Tweaks

Standing Stone Games pushed Update 78.1 to DDO's live servers in early March, with the official release notes landing on March 10, 2026. The patch zeroes in on targeted bug fixes and mechanical corrections, with spell scaling and Arcane Trickster archetype bugs called out specifically as priorities.

The Arcane Trickster is DDO's newest rogue class archetype, and right now it costs you nothing. Find the Giver of Gifts on Anniversary Island and interact with them to add the archetype to your account. That free window closes March 31, 2026, after which the Arcane Trickster moves to the DDO Store for points. No price has been confirmed yet, so if you want it without spending, the clock is running.

Update 78.1's patch notes include sections covering small features and balance changes, engineering changes, and general bug fixes, though the full line-item specifics, exact spell names, numerical adjustments, and the complete list of Arcane Trickster corrections weren't detailed in the release notes summary. The event brings free gifts, a new Anniversary dungeon, a new public area, the return of the 10th Anniversary event, and Sterling's Remnant Rush, which has an extended run all the way through March 2, 2027. To kick things off, speak to Fred, found in either House Phiarlan by the Phiarlan Chapterhouse or in House Jorasco near the entrance into the Mists of Ravenloft.

Free 20th Anniversary Cloaks are also up for grabs. For your first cloak, find Weaver, Master of Cloaks, located just around the corner clockwise from Sterling the Strongbox. Once you've grabbed that first one, head to the lower floor of the Hall of Heroes and interact with Weaver In Training, Apprentice of Cloaks to pick up additional cloaks for your account.

With the Anniversary event ending the same day as the Arcane Trickster's free window, March 31 is shaping up as a hard deadline for players who want to walk away from Update 78.1's launch period without spending a single DDO Point.
