Cfx.re's FiveM team revealed a ground-up rebuild of the OneSync networking engine that will bring GTA V Enhanced servers to a ceiling of 2,048 simultaneous players, pairing the capacity jump with a sweep of long-overdue technical fixes that the platform has carried for years.

Cfx.re is completely rebuilding the game's OneSync engine to slash lag, fix decade-old bullet sync bugs, and push server performance to the absolute limit. OneSync is the technology that allows FiveM servers to far exceed the standard player limits of GTA Online, and the redesigned version goes well beyond simply raising a number. The new version brings major performance gains including lower bandwidth consumption, reduced CPU and memory usage, smoother frame rates, and better overall latency for players.

The team behind FiveM is rebuilding major parts of the platform to support Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, and it's not just a straight port. They're now using the opportunity to fix things that have needed attention for a while. One of the core parts of FiveM that has been remade is the network synchronization. Server owners will see a reduction in bandwidth, CPU, and memory consumption with equivalent player counts, while players will experience increased stability, lower CPU usage, and the potential for higher frame rates.

The operational shift is just as significant as the performance gains. The biggest change is a redesigned OneSync networking layer, plus fixes for long-running sync problems and a move to high-performance sync mode only. Every GTA V Enhanced FiveM server will use the high-performance sync mode, and server owners relying on older lower-capacity modes are being pushed off those options entirely.

Server operators concerned about compatibility can set those worries aside. Existing scripts written in Lua, JavaScript, or C# are set to keep working without modification. On the asset side, FiveM's next major update for GTA V Enhanced rebuilds the platform around a new OneSync overhaul, including support for servers with up to 2,048 players, and 3D assets can be converted for GTA V Enhanced compatibility through a tool called Alchemist, with more details on escrowed asset conversion coming later.

FiveM support for GTA V Enhanced is expected to launch in the coming months, with the first early access build arriving soon. Hitting the full 2,048-player ceiling, however, carries a familiar cost: as with current FiveM servers, reaching that maximum will require an Element Club Platinum subscription.

One outstanding question surrounds licensing. Some code that is currently open source will become closed source, and the reasons have only been explained in general terms. Cfx.re has not yet provided a detailed breakdown of which components are affected or the full rationale behind the change, making it the one significant unknown hanging over an otherwise ambitious update.

Cfx.re announced on their forums that FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is under development and will be released in the coming months, with the rollout beginning through early access so server owners can provide feedback before a wider launch. For large-scale roleplay communities and event organizers, 2,048 slots on a rebuilt, low-latency networking layer represents a fundamentally different canvas than anything FiveM has offered before.
