Simple Zombies Reborn has stopped feeling like a museum piece and started acting like a real 2026 survival mod. The current v1.0.5c build landed just four days ago, with v1.0.5b listed six days earlier, and that pace matters: this is being actively rebuilt, not dusted off for nostalgia. It is positioned as an expanded continuation of sollaholla’s Simple Zombies [.NET], the December 15, 2016 original that has racked up about 1,891,048 downloads and 2,776 likes on GTA5-Mods.com.

The big change is not just more zombies. Sonydev says the old version had major limitations in how infected streamed and spawned around the player, which is exactly the kind of flaw that kills a survival mod in practice. If you were not looking behind you, the world could feel hollow. If the pressure spiked too hard, it could turn cheap. The rebuild attacks that problem head-on with heavier infected streaming, a persistent survival world, and a separate Infection Mode instead of folding everything into Story Mode. That makes the pacing easier to control and the whole loop feel built for long-haul play rather than one-off chaos.

The feature list is much more than a simple facelift. The rebuild adds progressive infection symptoms, bite escalation, antidote drops, special infected variants, improved fast-zombie behavior, military support features, emergency-service events, and persistence for guards, vehicles, props, and loadouts. In other words, your last safehouse setup does not vanish the second the session shifts. For anyone who has watched a scripted zombie mod buckle under its own weight, the v1.0.5c changelog’s stability and systems pass across the rebuilt SHVDN2 version is the key line. Zombie mods get unstable fast once too many scripted entities are active, and this update is clearly aimed at that problem.

Compatibility is still a hurdle, but it is a familiar one for serious GTA V mod stacks. Simple Zombies Reborn asks for .NET Framework 4.5.2 or higher, VC++ 2013, ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet, NativeUI, and iFruitAddon2. Once it is in place, F10 opens the zombies menu and I opens the inventory, with save data living in scripts/SimpleZombiesReborn. Sonydev also says the migration to SHVDN3 is almost complete and could be ready “today or tomorrow,” while a planned option would let players tune the infection penalty instead of always losing everything. That is the difference between nostalgia bait and a usable sandbox: this one is being shaped for current mod stacks, and it shows.

The timing fits the wider scene too. The Zombie Infection has already hit version 2.6 on April 1, 2026 after a run of rapid updates, which says there is still real demand for undead sandbox play in GTA V. Simple Zombies Reborn does not just revive an old idea. It gives it a more durable world, a cleaner survival rhythm, and a better shot at surviving alongside the rest of a modern modded install.
