New Realm Brewing expands into Suffolk, Virginia

New Realm Brewing Company has turned 5941 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk into a second Hampton Roads foothold, a bet on taproom traffic and destination drinking while much of the craft market has been tightening. The project was publicly marked with a groundbreaking announcement on July 13, 2023, and the Suffolk site now carries New Realm’s restaurant-and-brewery branding.

The location sits in Blue Point at the Riverfront in Harbour View, giving New Realm a visible home in a part of Suffolk that local materials positioned as a growth area. WAVY identified the Suffolk venue as the company’s second location in Hampton Roads, following its Virginia Beach site at 1209 Craft Lane off General Booth Blvd. The move gave New Realm another physical anchor in Virginia rather than leaning only on distribution.

That footprint matters because the Suffolk project was never described as a stripped-down production outpost. A 2022 city-related video referenced it as a proposed $9 million facility, and other project descriptions pointed to an outdoor beer garden, rooftop dining area, entertainment space and on-site brewing. Brewery Magazine described the Suffolk site as a brewery, distillery and restaurant open seven days a week, which places the business squarely in the all-day hospitality category.

New Realm’s own Suffolk pages reinforce that position. One is labeled “Restaurant & Brewery | Suffolk, VA,” and the venue also has a live music and events page, signaling that the company expects more than a quick pint-and-go crowd. Job listings surfaced for taproom host, bartender and manager roles, another sign that the Suffolk buildout is meant to operate as a staffed gathering place, not just a production address.

For New Realm, the expansion fits a company that has leaned into destination spaces since it was founded in 2016 by Carey Falcone, Bob Powers and Mitch Steele. Company profile materials describe it as a Southeast-based craft brewery with handcrafted beers and locally sourced food from scratch kitchens, a formula that depends on in-person experience as much as packaged beer sales. The Suffolk site extends that model deeper into Virginia, alongside the company’s existing Virginia Beach operation.

The result is a clear market-confidence play in a region where a brewery can still justify a new room, a new bar, and a new calendar of events. New Realm’s Suffolk move was not just another market entry. It was a commitment to a visible, built-out place in Harbour View, and that is what makes the expansion stand out now.
