AKC agility Premier Cup set for Philadelphia Naval Yard in June 2026

For dogs that live in overdrive, the AKC Agility Premier Cup will turn that extra charge into a measured test of speed, focus and handler timing at Philadelphia Naval Yard. The seventh Premier Cup is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 4701 Intrepid Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19112, placing one of AKC agility’s biggest stages in the middle of a packed spring-to-summer competitive run.

The American Kennel Club opened entries for the event on April 20 at 12:01 a.m. EST, and participation is by emailed invitation only. The top 20 invited handlers were guaranteed entry if their forms arrived between April 20 and April 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST. AKC published the 2026 premium list on April 8, underscoring how tightly the event is managed before the first dog ever sets paws on course.

That structure fits a sport built on precision. AKC says agility courses typically feature 14 to 20 obstacles, and the organization says all breeds, including mixed breeds, can participate. It also says agility is one of the fastest-growing dog sports in the country, with more than 1 million entries to the program each year. For owners of high-drive dogs, that mix of jumping, weaving and directional work is the appeal: it channels explosive energy into a task that demands listening as much as sprinting.

The Philadelphia stop also lands in a larger 2026 run of major AKC agility events. AKC’s calendar lists World Team Tryouts for May 1-3 at Premier Sports Center in Vincentown, New Jersey, followed by international competition in Mannheim, Germany, France and Turku, Finland. The Premier Cup sits squarely in that sequence, giving handlers and dogs a midseason benchmark before the circuit stretches overseas.

The June 6 event is part of AKC Celebrates USA 250, a free, family-friendly public weekend at the Philadelphia Navy Yard from June 5-7. The schedule also includes the AKC Diving Dogs Team Challenge, the AKC Agility Team Challenge, Mini AKC Meet the Breeds, a Kid’s Zone and food trucks. Mini AKC Meet the Breeds is set for noon to 2:30 p.m. on June 6 and June 7. AKC says the weekend is part of its AKC on ESPN Sports Series.
