A new thermal wellness experience built in collaboration with Island Sauna has arrived at Brentwood Bay Resort, introducing an outdoor, Scandinavian-inspired circuit with a poolside sauna and cold plunge program on the shores of the Saanich Inlet.

The boutique, adults-only retreat near Victoria, British Columbia has brought structured hot-and-cold contrast therapy to its pool deck, targeting everything from recovery to sleep. The offering is billed as a sauna and cold plunge experience using heat and cold therapy to support circulation, mental wellbeing, injury, immune health, and sleep.

The circuit follows a four-step ritual: shower, sauna, plunge, then rest and hydrate before repeating. That rest phase is built into the design. For more than two decades, The Spa at Brentwood Bay Resort has rested on the shores of the Saanich Inlet, and thoughtfully crafted treatments are now paired with heated outdoor pools, a thermal sauna and cold plunge, and the ease of an integrated spa, dining, and stay experience.

The spa is clear that this isn't a one-size-fits-all protocol. Beginners are encouraged toward shorter rounds in both the sauna and the plunge tank, while regulars can extend each phase as they see fit, with the emphasis always on comfort and recovery over endurance. A dedicated rest space between cycles gives the nervous system time to recalibrate before the next round. Guests receive complimentary green tea and water throughout, with kombucha available to purchase.

At the heart of the property is the Brentwood Bay Spa, led by Director of Wellbeing Matthew Farraday, who is shaping a new era of wellness for the resort. In September 2025, the spa had already expanded by introducing Sangre de Fruta, a botanical skincare line handcrafted on Bowen Island, British Columbia, and the Island Sauna collaboration deepens that commitment to local partnerships. Working with Sangre de Fruta, Éminence Organics, and La Biosthétique, the spa's approach is described as modern, sensorial, and deeply personal.

The resort, which opened in 2004 and carries a 20-year legacy on the Saanich Inlet, also offers guided Nordic-inspired sauna and massage treatments. Registered Massage Therapist Carli Griffin provides the spa's RMT Buccal Facial Massage, a 60-minute intraoral facial technique priced at $225, which sits alongside the new thermal circuit as part of a growing treatment menu.

Pool, gym, and hot tub access at the resort is available for adults 16 years and over. The spa is open Monday through Sunday, 10am to 9pm. The resort is located at 849 Verdier Avenue, Brentwood Bay, BC, V8M 1C5, and can be reached by phone at (250) 544-5111 or through brentwoodbayresort.com. The BBR Blackcard Membership is also available as a limited-time offer for guests seeking resort-wide discounts.
