A cold plunge pool is headed to one of North Naples's most exclusive addresses. The Club at Mediterra, the private gated community that already boasts seven pickleball courts, eight Har-Tru tennis courts, and more than 600 bocce-playing members, announced plans and initial construction activity for a new Sports & Lifestyle Center, with a press release distributed the week of March 18, 2026.

The centerpiece for anyone tracking cold therapy in private club settings is the planned 2,000-square-foot spa, which will include treatment rooms, infrared saunas, a cold plunge pool, and a relaxation lounge. That pairing of infrared sauna and cold plunge is exactly the contrast protocol that has been gaining traction in high-end wellness facilities, and its inclusion here signals that Mediterra's membership expects that infrastructure built in rather than bolted on.

The broader facility is substantial. A 5,600-square-foot fitness center will anchor the interior, supplemented by a physical therapy and training studio and dedicated yoga, spin, and Pilates studios. Expanded locker rooms with a centralized welcome area round out the functional spaces, alongside meeting rooms, card rooms, and a lifestyle room for the social side of membership life.

Outdoor amenities will include a bocce garden, covered terraces, an outdoor fitness area, and an aquatic center. Architecturally, the project leans into the European-inspired aesthetic already established at the club, with a porte cochere, grand staircase, and cupola among the signature design elements.

"The Sports & Lifestyle Center is designed to reflect how our members live today," Mauceri said. "It prioritizes flexibility, wellness and connection while maintaining the design integrity that distinguishes The Club at Mediterra."

The project team assembled for the build includes BUILD as general contractor, David Corban Architects on design, HINT | Harris Interiors handling the interior work, and LJA Engineering, Inc. for engineering. Completion is anticipated in summer 2028.

The new center will layer on top of an already dense amenity stack. The existing Sports Club currently runs fitness classes from aerobics to Zumba, staffs personal trainers, offers aesthetic services, and operates three spa rooms alongside a swimming pool with a sunning deck and smoothie bar. The nearly 60,000-square-foot clubhouse, which recently added a 1,850-square-foot outdoor covered bar terrace overlooking one of two Tom Fazio-designed golf courses, gives some sense of the scale Mediterra operates at. Nearly eight miles of walking and biking trails connect historically themed parks throughout the property.

For the cold plunge community specifically, the 2028 opening puts a dedicated contrast-therapy setup inside one of Southwest Florida's more serious private wellness programs, and that is worth keeping on the radar.
