Tandy Leather opens Waco store with classes and maker meetups

Tandy Leather marked the opening of its Waco store at 4734 West Waco Drive with a grand opening built around workshops, meetups, exhibitions and entrepreneurship. The shop, Store #191, gave leatherworkers a physical place to handle hides, compare tools and get quick advice before buying.

Beginners and intermediate makers can feel the grain, judge weight and check tooling choices in person. Tandy offers beginner classes and one-on-one sessions with staff, and visitors can demo a machine, talk with store associates, use the Open Table to try tools and techniques, and check class schedules. Tyler Brown manages the Waco location, which lists the phone number as (254) 218-6425 and regular hours as Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday closed.

The store sits at 4734 West Waco Drive, Waco, TX 76710, inside a space that was not a blank shell. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation record shows a $200,000 privately funded renovation that converted an existing chiropractic office into a retail Tandy Leather location. The project covered 2,787 square feet, with work starting on January 15, 2026 and finishing on March 31, 2026.

Tandy Leather was founded in 1919 and now distributes through more than 100 stores in the United States and Canada, plus one store in Spain. The company’s product mix includes leather, tools, buckles and adornments, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware and do-it-yourself kits.
