Archidekt's February 2026 Monthly Commander Deckbuilding Contest Revealed
Archidekt and EDHREC launched a February deckbuilding contest challenging players to submit Commander-legal decks led by a "couple" with finalists chosen for public voting and Cardsphere credit prizes.

Archidekt and EDHREC opened February's monthly deckbuilding contest with a Valentine-flavored prompt: build a Commander-legal deck led by a couple. The challenge allows flexible interpretations - partners, backgrounds, companions, or even legally constructed polycules - as long as the pairing is integral to the deck's theme and feels "innovative and novel."
EDHREC framed the contest as a recurring monthly event and spelled out the process. "This is a monthly contest with a different theme each month. The goal is to build a Commander-legal deck that fulfills the prompt in a creative or unique fashion, and at the end of each month, three finalists will be selected for you to vote on." Submissions are made through Archidekt, and while deck descriptions are optional, EDHREC advised that "Deck descriptions are not required but certainly may provide valuable context!"
Staff will select three finalists from eligible entries and publish those choices on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, via the Archidekt Discord and an EDHREC article highlighting each deck. The community will then determine placement through a week-long polling period based on deck upvotes. "Each finalist will be awarded credit to use on Cardsphere. The value of the credit is in US dollars and depends on the finalist's placement in deck upvotes at the end of the week-long polling period: 1st Place Prize - $250; 2nd Place Prize - $150; 3rd Place Prize - $100." EDHREC added that "Whoever gets the most votes will be crowned the winner, although all three finalists will receive a prize." Finalists will be contacted via email within roughly 24 hours after voting concludes on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Dana Roach of the EDHRECast will be handling day-to-day contest management in 2026, taking over some tasks previously managed by Ben. "I'm Dana from the EDHRECast and I'm joining the Archidekt contest team in 2026 to take over some of the day-to-day contest management tasks from Ben, so these announcements will be coming from me moving forward."
Archidekt's contest page provides color and examples. Its "THE CHALLENGE" block instructs entrants to "Brew a creative and interesting commander-legal deck led by a couple. The couple can be partners, backgrounds, companions, whatever configuration works, as long as they're part of the deck's theme in a way that feels innovative and novel." An included example deck highlights Vial Smasher the Fierce as a primary win condition and references cards such as Adric, Mathematical Genius; Grenzo, Havoc Raiser; Lightning, Security Sergeant; and The Twelfth Doctor, with an incomplete ending that stops at "Strionic."
Several source excerpts supplied to this report were truncated or garbled and are preserved exactly as provided: the Archidekt Vial Smasher sentence ends with "Since it is a cast trigger, she'll still be dealing [...]", one Archidekt deck example ends with "Strionic", an original submission sentence begins "Submissions are to be made via Archidekt and are ju", and an Archidekt Instagram snippet reads "... likes, 0 comments - archidekt_mtg on February 4, 2026: "You ... Archidekt FEBRUARY DECK BUILDING CONTEST . EDHREC HREGASI EVERY". No additional text beyond these excerpts has been inferred.
What this means for players: submit a Commander-legal deck via Archidekt, consider adding a clear deck description to sell your theme, and watch Archidekt Discord and EDHREC on February 18 for finalist reveals. If your build lands in the top three, expect Cardsphere credit if community upvotes push you to the podium after polling wraps up on February 25.
