GravaStar Japan Launches Mercury V60 Pro with Japanese Layout and Hall-Effect Switches

The Mercury V60 Pro is the first Hall-Effect 60% keyboard GravaStar has shipped with a native JIS layout, and for Japanese buyers who've spent months importing ANSI boards or remapping firmware to approximate JIS behavior, that distinction lands harder than any benchmark number.

GravaStar Japan announced the board on April 1, 2026 via its official X account, posting "新登場！日本語配列磁気スイッチキーボード Mercury V60 Pro," which translates to "New arrival! Japanese layout magnetic switch keyboard Mercury V60 Pro." The domestic SKU is sold as the Mercury V60 Pro Deluxe Edition / Dual Keycap Gift Set (Japanese Layout), priced at 34,980 yen (tax included) and bundled with two keycap sets, replacement switches, and cleaning tools in a premium gift box. The standard US version retails at $199.95, the Deluxe at $219.95 (frequently discounted to $199.95), and UK pricing sits at approximately £200.

The JIS layout is the sharpest differentiator here. Most Hall-Effect 60% keyboards reach Japan as imports with ANSI layouts, forcing JIS users to either remap keys in firmware or accept a layout that doesn't match physical keycap legends. The V60 Pro ships with the correct layout from the factory. JIS boards also use a distinct key cluster configuration around the Enter key and right-side modifiers, making standard ANSI aftermarket keycap sets incompatible. The dual keycap bundle in the Deluxe Edition directly addresses that gap, removing one of the most persistent friction points for Japanese mechanical keyboard buyers.

Inside the CNC aluminum frame, GravaStar's proprietary UFO Magnetic Switches use N52H magnets with 0.001mm actuation precision and a rated lifespan exceeding 100 million keystrokes. The actuation point is adjustable from 0.005mm to 3.5mm, and the board supports Rapid Trigger mode, which eliminates key stiction by resetting instantly on upward travel, as well as SOCD and LKP (Last Keystroke Prioritized) handling for precision strafing in Valorant, CS2, and Apex Legends. The 8,000Hz polling rate is achieved via 256kHz key-position scanning, bringing input latency to 0.125ms. The hot-swap socket accepts select TTC and Gateron Hall-Effect switches in addition to GravaStar's own UFOs.

The V60 Pro ships in Gunmetal Black and Chrome Silver, weighs 0.86 kg, and measures 325 × 125.8 × 41 mm. Four layers of acoustic foam sit inside the chassis to damp keystroke vibration, and dual-zone RGB covers per-key illumination and chassis underglow across 16 lighting modes. The detachable USB-C cable supports Windows, macOS, and compatible gaming consoles.

At 34,980 yen, the Deluxe Edition isn't an impulse buy, but it sits above budget compact Hall-Effect options and below the Keychron Q3 Max, a gap where native JIS availability on a Hall-Effect platform is genuinely sparse. GravaStar's Mercury V75 Pro, a 75% Hall-Effect board that debuted in June 2025 sharing the same UFO switch platform and sci-fi aesthetic, gives the V60 Pro an established engineering base rather than a first-generation gamble.

JIS-layout users who want Hall-Effect performance without the import overhead or layout compromise are the obvious fit. Rapid Trigger and SOCD handling make the board purpose-built for competitive FPS workflows in Valorant, CS2, and Apex Legends. Buyers already comfortable with ANSI layout who import from GravaStar's US or EU storefronts can access the standard V60 Pro at a lower effective price point.
