Richie Hawtin anchors BAUM Festival’s 2026 Bogotá lineup

Richie Hawtin’s placement near the center of BAUM Festival 2026 says more than “minimal techno is on the bill.” It shows how one of Latin America’s most visible electronic weekends is using a canonical figure from the genre’s Detroit lineage to frame a much broader festival story.

BAUM Festival is set for May 22 and 23 at Corferias in Bogotá, and the 2026 edition is being billed as the festival’s “new decade,” with BAUM 11 described as a gathering for thousands of people on one dance floor. In that context, Hawtin is not just another techno name. Apple Music has long described him as one of minimal techno’s key architects, shaped by Detroit’s scene and better known through Plastikman, and that legacy still carries weight when a festival wants to signal seriousness rather than just chase ticket volume.

The rest of the lineup makes the strategy obvious. Underworld is set to play live, Disclosure is booked as a DJ set, and the bill also runs through Nina Kraviz, Boys Noize, Joseph Capriati, Helena Hauff, Mall Grab, Avalon Emerson, Paul Oakenfold, Planetary Assault Systems, Cassian, Vini Vici, Adrian Mills, Alarico, Cera Khin, Parfait, Nick León and Felipe Gordon. Resident Advisor described the 2026 edition as spanning hypnotic techno, euphoric house, bass and leftfield electronics, which is exactly why Hawtin matters here: he gives the lineup a lineage anchor inside a package built for a wider crowd.

The festival is also leaning into collaborative pressure. The lineup includes 6EJOU B2B SNTS, Adiel B2B Quest, ANNE B2B SHDW, Alba Franch B2B Helena Lauwaert and Überkikz B2B Felicie, a set of pairings that suggests BAUM wants tension, cross-scene chemistry and some unpredictability built into the weekend. Resident Advisor said this is the third time it will host a stage at BAUM, and the wider lineup was announced in March.

Tickets are already positioned like a major event, not a niche club night. BAUM’s FAQ says the two-day combo is sold exclusively through Ticketmaster.co, and general admission starts at 329,000 Colombian pesos for Friday or Saturday before rising to 447,000 pesos in later stages. Bogotá’s government also said it coordinated the 2025 edition through an interagency safety and compliance operation, using a Puesto de Mando Unificado for real-time monitoring, which underlines how large BAUM has become in the city.

That is the real story of Hawtin’s slot: BAUM is not just booking minimal techno, it is placing one of the genre’s defining names at the center of a festival that wants history, credibility and scale to read in the same image.
