What does City Town actually add to Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s daily routine, and is it enough to pull lapsed Apple Arcade players back in? Sunblink’s answer is a chunky one: a new region, seven new shops, more than 90 quests, 60-plus puzzles and challenges, and more than 30 hours of fresh adventure wrapped around Usahana, better known as U*SA*HA*NA.

The expansion arrived April 16 and turns the game’s cozy loop into a bigger grind in the best possible way. City Town brings in a customizable Imagination Cafe, 35 friendship levels with Usahana, more than 150 new clothing and furniture items, and new visitor characters Pannya, Buppi, Wanwa, Sora and Nyako. If you play this game the way most people do, that means another round of logging in to chase quests, unlock decor, and clear out the next batch of activities instead of just drifting through the island’s existing routines.

For Apple Arcade players, the pitch is especially simple: City Town is included in the subscription and does not require a separate in-app purchase. On Steam, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, the same expansion costs $24.99. That split matters because Hello Kitty Island Adventure has always lived in two lanes at once, as a subscription title on Apple Arcade and as a paid game elsewhere, and Sunblink has kept feeding it like a live service with big content drops.

That strategy has been working since the game launched exclusively on Apple Arcade on July 28, 2023. Apple said at the time that it already offered more than 40 hours of gameplay, with more content to be added over time, and that players could go solo or invite a friend. City Town pushes that promise well past the original scope, while also serving as the climactic conclusion to the City Town storyline on Apple Arcade.

For players who drifted away after the honeymoon phase, this is the kind of update worth a reinstall. The combination of a new region, a stack of quests, and a full friendship track for Usahana is substantial enough to feel like a real expansion of the daily loop, not just a cosmetic refresh. If you were waiting for Hello Kitty Island Adventure to become a bigger, busier cozy game, City Town is the clearest reason yet to log back in.
