Dapol unveils World Book Day OO and O gauge wagons supporting charity
Dapol unveils OO and O gauge wagons to support World Book Day, donating a sum per sale and offering book-themed liveries in pristine and weathered finishes.

Dapol has announced a special run of OO- and O-gauge wagons carrying book-themed liveries to raise funds for World Book Day 2026. The models include designs for Browsers Bookshop, Book Law Publications and an official World Book Day branding, and will be available in both pristine and weathered finishes for modellers who prefer fresh paint or a more layout-ready look.
"Dapol has announced a new range of OO and O gauge wagons to support World Book Day 2026."
The announcement, published January 22, confirms OO ventilated vans and O-gauge conflats with containers among the planned items. Prices were listed in the release: OO models are expected at approximately £15.20-£16.40 each, while O-gauge conflats and containers are priced around £77-£78.20. Dapol will donate a sum for every wagon sold to the World Book Day charity, linking a familiar bit of rolling stock collecting with a real-world cause.
For collectors the combination of limited-theme liveries and dual finishing options matters. The ventilated vans suit era-specific freight consists and light industrial scenes, and the O-gauge conflats plus containers give operators an eye-catching load for a layout’s freight diagrams. Offering both pristine and weathered choices saves modellers the time and effort of repainting or custom ageing if they want a display-clean piece or an operational item straight from the box.
Dapol prepared decorated samples and artwork ahead of the models’ retail availability, with the wagons due to reach shops ahead of World Book Day on March 5, 2026. Pricing and pre-order information were provided at announcement, giving layout owners and collectors the opportunity to plan purchases in advance of the charity day. The choice of Browsers Bookshop and Book Law Publications liveries gives layouts a touch of local flavour and storytelling potential - a van labelled for a secondhand bookshop adds a narrative to any goods yard or local freight working.
This release touches both the collecting and community sides of the hobby: it brings new stock that will slot into existing consists, and it channels hobby spending into a charity drive tied to a national literacy event. Expect the wagons to appeal to those building period freight flows, modellers who enjoy custom-themed wagons, and collectors who track Dapol’s limited releases.
As March approaches, watch for pre-order windows and sample photos from Dapol so you can decide between pristine shine or a weathered finish that blends with your layout’s grime and timetables. The line-up offers a small but meaningful way to expand rolling stock while backing World Book Day’s fundraising efforts.
