NBA 2K26 MyTEAM adds Shine Festival challenges, rewards Maxey and Dark Matter cards
Shine Festival puts a 100 OVR Tyrese Maxey at the top of MyTEAM’s playoff grind, with four Dark Matter cards behind him and a daily chase across modes.

Shine Festival gives NBA 2K26 MyTEAM a playoff-style reward run built around a 100 OVR Tyrese Maxey and Dark Matter cards for Marcus Smart, RJ Barrett, Jarrett Allen and Ayo Dosunmu. The pitch is simple: daily challenges across modes, card rewards that stack over time, and a postseason theme that fits the way 2K has turned Season 6 into an NBA Playoffs push.
The real question is whether the grind pays off, and Maxey looks like the cleanest answer. A 100 OVR headliner is the kind of card that can jump straight into a lineup, especially if your backcourt still needs an explosive creator. Maxey was already one of the faces of Season 4 when that season launched on Friday, January 9, 2026, alongside Victor Wembanyama, so this is a familiar star being pushed again in a year where 2K has kept him close to the center of the content cycle.
The Dark Matter tier is more situation-dependent. Marcus Smart is the most obvious fit if your roster needs perimeter defense and toughness. Jarrett Allen makes more sense if your center rotation is thin and you want a reliable interior body. RJ Barrett and Ayo Dosunmu feel closer to depth or collection completions unless they happen to patch a very specific hole in your lineup. In a MyTEAM ecosystem that now mixes NBA and WNBA players for the first time, card value matters more than ever, because every reward has to compete with a deeper pool of options.
That is what makes Shine Festival worth watching and, for some squads, worth grinding. 2K’s own MyTEAM challenge structure is built around seasonal reward tracks and event cards, and its Greatness Challenges page shows the ceiling of that design, with events capable of handing out 100 OVR cards and more than 250 reward cards. This mode is meant to reward steady logins, not one-off sprints, and Shine Festival fits that blueprint exactly.
The timing is no accident. Season 6 is explicitly tied to the NBA Playoffs, and an April 20, 2026 patch even fixed a Playoffs bracket issue in MyNBA when using Start Today. That makes this latest MyTEAM event feel less like a side quest and more like part of the main postseason push. For players hunting lineup upgrades, Maxey is the prize that matters most. The rest are useful only if your roster has a clear opening.
