Adeptus Mechanicus Takes Center Stage in Dawn of War IV CGI Trailer
The Adeptus Mechanicus now fronts Dawn of War IV’s rollout, with a new CGI reveal that casts the faction as the game’s tone-setter and series debut star.

The Adeptus Mechanicus has become the face of Dawn of War IV’s latest push, and that is no accident. Warhammer Community’s brand-new CGI sequence, released on April 20 and 21, 2026 depending on timezone, put Magos Dominus Nulpherus-1 at the head of a Mechanicus expedition burrowing into a dormant Necron tomb on Kronus. The setup is classic 40k: cold logic, ritual certainty, forbidden knowledge, and the kind of xenos trouble that never stays dormant for long.
That choice tells fans a lot about how Dawn of War IV wants to present itself. Deep Silver and KING Art Games are not treating the trailer as a one-off mood piece. PLAION said it is the second of four in-game CGI narrative sequences planned for the game, which points to a faction-by-faction rollout built to sell atmosphere as much as gameplay. The Mechanicus, with their red robes, machine-altar mystique, and dangerous curiosity, are a natural fit for that job. They instantly communicate the tone Warhammer 40,000 players expect from a universe where devotion and technology are never cleanly separated.
The official store pages back up the scale behind the marketing. Dawn of War IV is planned for Steam and PC in 2026, with no exact release date yet, and the game is being developed by KING Art Games and published by Deep Silver and PLAION. Steam says it will launch with four unique factions, more than 70 campaign missions, and support for multiplayer, co-op, Last Stand, and Skirmish. The biggest faction-specific headline for tabletop players is that the Adeptus Mechanicus will appear in their series debut as a playable faction, a notable move for a sub-faction that has long had a distinct identity in the lore and on the tabletop, but has not always enjoyed the same videogame spotlight as Space Marines or Orks.
That matters beyond the PC crowd. Dawn of War has always functioned as a gateway into 40k, and this reveal keeps the setting active in a medium that can steer attention back toward miniatures, lore books, and army choices. A Mechanicus-led trailer can do what a rules preview cannot: make the faction look irresistible. For readers already eyeing new projects, it is the kind of reveal that can nudge interest toward Skitarii, Tech-Priests, and the wider Martian faith.
The timing adds another layer. Warhammer Community said Dawn of War Definitive Edition had released just a week before Dawn of War IV was announced, underlining how quickly Games Workshop and its partners are keeping the RTS sub-brand in motion. IGN also noted that the Necrons’ depiction sparked debate in the community, which only reinforces how closely fans are watching every frame. For now, the Mechanicus are carrying the banner, and they are doing exactly what this universe asks of them: marching into the dark in search of knowledge that should probably stay buried.
