Norwich Woodturners Shifts April Meeting to Avoid Easter Weekend Conflict

Norwich Woodturners will hold their April meeting on Friday 10 April 2026 at 7:30 pm after Good Friday landed on what would have been the club's regular first-Friday slot. The venue stays the same: The Senior Citizens Club on Recreation Ground Road, Sprowston, Norwich NR7 8EW.

The club meets on the first Friday of each month, a format that works smoothly for most of the year but periodically runs into bank holidays and school breaks. Easter weekend is the most reliable culprit. This April the collision required a one-week shift, and the club published a notice on their website to flag the change for both regular members and anyone planning a first visit.

The Sprowston venue carries the club's full history. In 2007, ten fellow woodturners sat round a table at the same Senior Citizens Club to draw up the rules and aims of what would become Norwich Woodturners. At the inaugural meeting the following month, nearly thirty people showed up to join. The club eventually reached nearly seventy members, a seven-fold expansion from those original ten founders, all rooted in the same Sprowston room where the April 10 meeting will take place.

Easter weekend will not be the last calendar conflict. Any month where the first Friday falls on a bank holiday is a candidate for a date shift. The reliable habit is to check the club website a few days before any scheduled meeting, and if the date falls on or near a public holiday, confirm with the secretary directly before making the trip to Sprowston.

The April 10 meeting at 7:30 pm is the correct date. Everything else about the evening remains unchanged.
